Your on crack. Half-Life was like DOOM in many respects in that it set many standards in the game play experience, like DOOM, I still play the crap outta it, and prolly always will.

yeah, half life was an excellent game!
It still is and just because u couldnt use mods, wouldnt change that fact. I would buy it now if it came out on DC.
I think the game was in fact finished, it was reviewed in DC-UK and given 9/10.
Im not sure why it was never released but I guess it probably has something to do with sales figures from DC. Also the DC version included blue-shift that was later released as a PC add on. And it was probably better than the PS2 version...
Actually a friend said he saw a link to the DC ISO on a warez site, but it could have been a fake.
Does anyone know if this really does exist?

I am shure as all things, that it has or will make its way to the net, seems to be the way of things now a days. I even heard that Starwars episode 2 was out on the net like 1 day before its release; crazy. Anyhow enough about that evil stuff, I don't wanna have to delete this.
I fully agree though, you should check out some of the expansion packs for Half-Life, they truely keep the game alive, both commercial and home brew paks! Another aspect of the game that I really loved was the fact that rather than go through a series of levels, you could back track through pretty much the whole game making it one giant universe, and thus more realistic and deep.
As for Blue Shift, it was pretty kool, not near as kool as Opposing Force, but kool, though I think I beat that in a couple of hours of play, could have been longer.

I bet it can run the lithtech engine
Shogo is awesome! it has a robotech feel to the game where you play both on foot and in 40 foot mechs. the game is great. here is a site for the demo and source code. The demo is online multiplayer. The game rules and is so worth the 9.99 with septerra core pack in game at target. anyway here is the website.

quake for PS2?
Do u mean Half Life for PS2?
Half Life has a two player co-op mode called decay,
where u have these two female scientists, who have to work together
to escape. You can do it in one player as well, but it's impoisible because u have to keep swapping bodies.
Also there never seemed to be much ammo around. I thought it was ok but a bit dissapointing.
The DM mode was ok tho.
DC Halflife with Blue Shift would have been a better deal.

one of the games i loved back in the day was "day of the triad" a doom based clone with the john woo style double pistols, wonder if the source was ever released or lost.
I remember playing doom and doomII, at good speed full screen on my compaq 486 25SX yes that slow. It ran like a charm.
Hexen ran great but firing magic didnt do it for me, gimme a bfg anyday.
duke nukem ran great most of the time but on some levels i had to reduce the screen size, in particular the level full of water with two moving platform that would meet in the middle of a caverm surrounded with waterfalls was the limit to the speed i got having to reduce the screen so much it was almost unplayable but this was well into the game if i remember and i could up the screen size after it.
I also used to play the dark forces game a lot, i think this played great on the 486 too all the way to the end, requirements said dx66 i think but my tweaked 25sx did alright.
I never even got the quake demo going as it said it required a pentium never got around the pentium requirements only cause it had a separate mathematic processor which my sx didnt so a dx might have managed fine.
I too had my system tweaked to the max then, but i dont even think my graphics card was compatible with univbe 2.0 and it was 1.2 or something like that, i had a et4000 graphics card, i had a games playing bootdisk with everything disabled or enabled accordingly, think i had half a dozen bootdisks for different games, no joystick, memory manager, emm386 etc.
the type of graphics card your system had was just as important as the speed of processor as my friend with a faster processor couldn't play many of the games and those he could were slower than my one, even after my tweaks on his system.
btw half-life was an awesome game and i'd love to play it on dc, but i doubt it'll happen.

I think Heretic and Hexen should really be ported to DC, maybe even Hexen 2 (uses Quake engine). They were all great games and even though I'm not really into programming, I know that the engine code in Heretic is nearly identical to that of Doom. So if I knew a place to download the DoomDC source, I'd try porting Heretic myself... but unfortunately I haven't been able to find the source for DoomDC or QuakeDC anywhere.... Hexen had a few engine modifications so porting it might be a bit more difficult than Heretic. And Hexen 2 used the Quake engine with a minimal amount of changes.
This is all I know about this.. Oh, and all of the above games are open-source. The sources can be downloaded from a number of places, for example http://www.3dgamers.com/dl/games/hereti ... e.zip.html and http://www.3dgamers.com/dl/games/hexen2 ... e.zip.html

Here is something I'd die to see ported to the DC, but I am shure will never happen, though I can always hope for an X-Box port.
http://www.korax-heritage.com/kmod/KORAX MOD
-----------------------
Overview
Korax Mod is the first product of the Korax project. This is a gameplay
modification that allows you to play the original Hexen levels in Direct 3D /
OpenGL with some new RPG features, making for a much more
differentiated gameplay according to which class you play. With the
fighter, you'll laugh in the beginning as it'll be very easy, and will sweat (and
die) in the end. With the mage, you'll have an extremely tough start and a
child's play towards the end.
See here for the complete manual of Korax Mod (this manual is also
included in the download file).
New features in Korax Mod 1.x
Visually advanced 3D engine
Complete Direct 3D / OpenGL acceleration (jHexen engine)
Support for MD2 models (10 3D models included in the
download file)
New RPG-like skills and levels system
Experience points for monsters killed
Character generation before starting a game
Manually adjustable skills after reaching a new level
An all-new spell system with 5 spells for the mage and 3 for the
cleric
Character height depends on class
Certain characters can't use certain items
Other changes compared to the original Hexen:
several monsters have become stronger
all boss monsters became much stronger
movement patterns of Death Wyvern completely changed
if you fool around with a Heresiarch too long, unexpected
reinforcements may arrive
New features in Korax Mod 2.x
Enhanced stats: speed now influences the delay of the melee
weapons as well, not only the running speed (i.e. when your Fighter's
speed is higher, he'll be able to deliver more punches with his Axe or
Gauntlets in the same time span than he could when it was lower)
Fighter has now Battle Rage (similar to Mage's Magic and Cleric's
Faith), along with a new spell-kind attribute, the Berserker
New weapon enhancements for the Fighter's Quietus and the
Mage's Sapphire Wand (there are now 4 different versions of the
wand). All Fighter weapons can now be used without mana
New spell for the Cleric: Spirits Within
New spells for the Mage: Possession, Summoning and Horrible
pain
Certain monsters might drop some treasure when they die
Between episodes you will be transported into a shop in another
dimension where you can extend your equipment, using the treasure
collected from dead monsters
New MD2 models and sprites (silver and gold bars)
