Re: Segagaga translation in the works
Just a little progress report for you guys. A user by the name of christoph over at the Racketboy forums has emailed the guy that owns the company translating the game, and the guy emailed him back this message.
So it would seem hope is not lost after all!Hi Chris! Thanks for writing.
Yes, we are absolutely still working on our translation of Segagaga.
Due to the unpredictability of our group members' schedules for
collaborating, we've preferred a less public approach to communicating
updates on our progress than we've taken in the past. Given the
regularity and intensity of our earlier public updates, many people
understandably have been confused regarding how much attention we're
paying to Segagaga. Rest assured: it's still in the works.
Thanks!
James

Re: Segagaga translation in the works
It's been over 4 years, I would be very surprised if this actually was finished

I guess they haven't had much time to translate it... It would be awesome though

Re: Segagaga translation in the works
I understand it would be time consuming to translate a game, but come on. You can't tell me they haven't had enough time in 5 YEARS to get it finished.Neoblast wrote:I guess they haven't had much time to translate it... It would be awesome though

Re: Segagaga translation in the works
The Shenmue 1&2 french translation started in 2006, and while having a good number of people working on it, it still have to be finished.

Re: Segagaga translation in the works
Shenmue is bigger than segagaga, and has way more text.
Believe me I know, I did an almost complete translation of the first cd in shenmue 2...

Re: Segagaga translation in the works
Then I hope you know that translating the text is a tiny percent of the total amount of work.

Re: Segagaga translation in the works
It's not a tiny, on the contrary. Atleast regarding shenmue but there are many pther aspects to take care of, but the text occupies the majority of the task in that game, huge. In segagaga I guess they had trouble decompressing the textures, and not much time to effectively work on it.

Re: Segagaga translation in the works
But you can't start to translate without the tools. For Shenmue, those took years to be ready.

Re: Segagaga translation in the works
When I started there were only two or 3 tools and very limited, that task is now immensely easier thanks to manic and sizious.

Re: Segagaga translation in the works
I have a feeling you are going to have to wait a very very long time MAYBE in another 5 years it will be done, but I doubt it will even be released then.spinksy wrote:Glad to see they still working on it, still can't wait for this!

Re: Segagaga translation in the works
11 years and still nothing, I understand about schedules having to line up but 11 years! 11 years and absolutely nothing to show.
How do you have nothing to show after 11 years?

In the time since you posted this you could have learned Japanese and started your own fan translation of Segagaga and made a lot more progress than this|darc| from 2006 wrote:Cool; I've always wanted to play that game.
