Re: I herd you liek half life...and Dreamcast:D
though, doesn't saving not properly work when people put mods on DC Half Life? IIRC the "counter strike" mod thing doesnt let you save correct?

I still wish someone would port the "They Hunger" series over.

Still working on getting somebody to scan that Prima guide though, to no avail.

Re: I herd you liek half life...and Dreamcast:D
You are welcome. I must make a new package with a few updated magazine articles I have gotten since then. Everybody is being so nice with this project. There was so much printed media about this game before it was canceled, dank Gott it was leaked, and we have so many publications that printed articles on the game.
There was going to be 2 different versions of the game for DC gamers. First, the singleplayer campaign with all it's goodies was to come out, then a stand alone multiplayer disc with PC mods like DOD, Cs, TF Classic, and others.
Look at the US ODCM magazine that has Ryo on the front from Shenmue, it has a 1 of a kind article on ONLY the multiplayer version, and it was a "Hands on" preview of the game. Too bad it was never leaked along with the singleplayer version, if it was far enough along to be playable.
A multiplayer map or 2 can still be found in the Dreamcast singleplayer version of the game. Even when you type some old left over commands into the DC keyboard, you can teleport to the left over maps in the hidden files.
Also, my good friend TeamXlink was messing with game commands on the Keyboard one day and found this.
If you would like to learn how to develope for the HLDC engine, go to this link, it has many helpfull tips and Override and Dreamatrix or divagante can help you on your way, as they are the 3 main HLDC developers, and well respected folks.
http://www.dcfan.net.ru/forum/f83/ I should get around to adding the other magazine articles to my package sometime soon. If I forget in the next couple days, feel free to refresh my memory by posting asking whats up with it.
Edit: I found a place that sales their guide books for $12 if you want to get one cheap? Much cheaper than the one for $70 on Ebay.

Well, another great thing about Half-Life for Dreamcast, is you can properly convert PC mods, or make a new game for Dreamcast based on the Half-Life engine for DC with some work if you know what you are doing.I've been messing around with CVARs and Commands for the Half-Life Dreamcast.
Here is a few neat things:
The framerate is locked at 66fps, you can raise the framerate
fps_single 100
That sets the frame-rate to 100
Interesting enough these two commands are also implemented.
fps_modem
fps_lan
There defaults are 66 as well.
These are also there.
deathmatch
coop
skill
port
clientport
fakelag
sv_lan
The default for port is 27015
The default for clientport is 27005
You can also change the autoaim with:
sv_aim
The default for sv_aim is 0.900
There are so many cool things:
sv_bounce
sv_airmove
sv_stepsize
sv_accelerate
sv_maxspeed
sv_stopspeed
edgefriction
sv_friction
sv_Gravity
sv_newunit
violance_agibs
violence_hgibs
violence_ablood
violence_hblood
sv_language
Nearly all of the pc commands are in the Dreamcast version!!!

Future generations will not care about the Dreamcast. Hell it was largely under appreciated in it's own generation.
Re: I herd you liek half life...and Dreamcast:D
You'd be surprised how much money people have offered for me to mod the ever living shit of their Dreamcasts. Those who appreciate it REALLY appreciate it. Those who don't are likely to continue sucking of the teet of Angry Birds.ace wrote:Future generations will not care about the Dreamcast. Hell it was largely under appreciated in it's own generation.

How many? Enough to be significantly remembered in 5-10 years?
Don't get me wrong, I'll always have fond memories of the console, I just think that outside of our relatively small circle, it's more or less forgotten.

Re: I herd you liek half life...and Dreamcast:D
I know kids that discover the Dreamcast all the time! I moderate a site that has the largest active Dreamcast community anywhere, and I can tell you that I see 10 and 12 year old kids that can't afford a 360, or just want to play a system that needs no nodding to play backups or homebrew. Dreamcast still has a very active community, and people buy them like crazy on ebay still to this day.

Has anyone tried running this version of Paranoia? I played the original version of the mod for the Steam HL, very fun and amazingly good visuals for the engine.

Re: I herd you liek half life...and Dreamcast:D
I have played all the Dreamcast Half-Life mods and love them. This is the best looking FPS on Dreamcast, actually, besides Shenmue, this is graphically the best looking game on the system.
Here is a video of it on Dreamcast hardware.

Re: I herd you liek half life...and Dreamcast:D
I used to think like this. In the past 5 or so years though, I've noticed that every time I mention the Dreamcast, or some DC game, or my homebrew work I get a familiar fanfare of 'OH MAN, Dreamcast!'. It is generally looked upon by those who know anything about videogames as way ahead of its time with extremely fun and innovative games. As a symbol of something ahead of its time without relying on single gimmicks or being a supercomputer.ace wrote:How many? Enough to be significantly remembered in 5-10 years?
