DCJY: Comparing DC Collection V1 with their DC Collection
Barry the Nomad of DCJY has posted an interesting comparison between the Dreamcast rereleases for 360/PC and the original Dreamcast versions.
Variables such as graphics, sound, gameplay and price points are all compared and contrasted:

All SA extras from the GC version were stripped out and turned into DLC? Shame.

Re: DCJY: Comparing DC Collection V1 with their DC Collection
I'd like to see the games menus and stuff, is it anything interesting / are there any extras? When I return home I'll end up picking this up. Not that I need it or anything, but I'll support this shoestring release in hopes of something better / other games.

@ Fragger: Were they any good to begin with? I played DX again on GameCube. I had little interest in the chao garden and other than that I didn't find anything that stood out.
P.S. from what i've read the dx updates to the chao world and graphics are intact.

Shitty box art, shitty menu art, I'll still pick it up when it drops to £10 though

Shitty collection, vazy taxi doesn't even have offspring music, and sonic adventure is a port of a port of a port.

Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure put Dreamcast on the map.
It isn't the system's fault SEGA already ported them everywhere.

People are just being silly if they expect Head Hunter, Shenmue 2, Skies of Arcadia and Rez on one compilation.
1 Great Game
2 Well Known Commercial Games
1 Crap Game
I think the line up is fine, but I agree that SEGA screwed the fans over in the extras department.

Re: DCJY: Comparing DC Collection V1 with their DC Collection
I have no idea, but turning already-made content into DLC will probably make the game feels less complete than the GameCube version (though only the DC version has the Chao Adventure VMU game, but I don't care about Chao Adventure anyway). This means that I'd rather play the GC version than the one in this collection.cube_b3 wrote:@ Fragger: Were they any good to begin with? [...] I didn't find anything that stood out.
And a question about Crazy Taxi: did they expand the width of the screen aspect (making the game renders more things on the screen), or did they cut its height (reducing the amount of content rendered)? If they expanded it, it should be a lot better than the DC version, since the soundtrack can be customized.

Re: DCJY: Comparing DC Collection V1 with their DC Collection
I don't know, I am sticking with the DC Versions I have no reason to purchase any of them again.
Although I am looking forward to the next CT Sound Track it would be something fresh.

Re: DCJY: Comparing DC Collection V1 with their DC Collection
I disagree. I think $7 is a fair maximum price for a decade-old game with pretty much nothing added. I'm sure Sega would like me to pay more for something AAA, but I never value my purchases by a company's standards.cube_b3 wrote:People are just being silly if they expect Head Hunter, Shenmue 2, Skies of Arcadia and Rez on one compilation.

Re: DCJY: Comparing DC Collection V1 with their DC Collection
Irrelevant. You're looking at collector's values for original DC editions that Sega aren't making money from.cube_b3 wrote:Read the price comparison.

Does a 50% discount on a DLC re-release of any of those make it a good deal?

Re: DCJY: Comparing DC Collection V1 with their DC Collection
It would take them to awesome from good but I doubt the digital market has games of that level so cheap (atleast not on release). Eventually you'd get them for 5$ though.
In any case if you still have the Dreamcast, it is best to play the games on that only.

Re: DCJY: Comparing DC Collection V1 with their DC Collection
To be honest, if you want to sell me old games on new systems - I want nice remastered HD versions like plenty of other developers have managed. Beyond Good & Evil HD is selling for $10 - just a little more than these games, and has seen considerable gameplay and graphics improvements.
