Cappello is the highest paid coach at the World Cup by a mile, and England have pretty much unlimited resources at their disposal. 1 goal and 2 points from 2 games against the USA and Algeria is unacceptable. While we are the classic underachievers and I never thought we'd win the thing, I at least hoped we'd easily qualify from one of the easiest group stages in the competition.

We still can, but it really doesn't matter. So far it's been 120 minutes of pure shit and it won't stand up to the last 16.

Poor Kaká. That was some bad ref. Still, Brazil dominated at will.

There seemed to be an excessive amount of triumphalism amongst the mexican media and fans in general, talking about actually winning the World Cup and that sort of thing; yet the team has never played to fit that part. Still, while I think Argentina is the clear favourite, you can really put their sloppy defense to test, as long as Aguirre ponds to keep that aggressive attitude on the attack. Hernández has to be a starter.

The Mexican media inflate to much the Mexican players, and playing vs Uruguay was a reallity check....Aguirre made stupid decisions in the last game, why was Blanco a starter? why Franco in the offensive? and why Hernandez wasnt a starter...... Aguirre doesnt have common sense....

It repeating story again Mexico lossing in this round....

There's certainly going to be one unexpected semifinalist, it's either South Korea, Ghana, USA or... Uruguay

Well, the USA are out. I had them down for using their momentum to push through Ghana and at least make the next stage. Uruguay v Korea was a good match. Uruguay completely fell asleep after that first early goal though and left Korea with a lot of (desperate) chances.

Tonight should be good. Everybody is talking about how good Germany are at penalties. I personally find it pretty optimistic to think that England could get through 120 minutes of football with Germany with a level score. It's a traditional clash of the rivals though so it should be highly charged. Argentina v Mexico is just two fun teams on the pitch. Should be some good football to watch there.

I thought the USA would edge the win too, shame they didn't get a late equalizer in extra time though, penalties would have been great as extra entertainment for the neutrals.

Enjoyed both the USA v Ghana and the Uruguay v Korea matches (Korea almost squeezed an equalizer for extra time), I hope today will be just as entertaining (as long as the England team doesn't resort to another lackluster performance).

THE REFEREE'S A WANKER
THE REFEREE'S A WANKER
THE REFEREE'S A WANKER

Got about 3 chants in before the FIFA sound team faded it out. I am looking forward to seeing for just how long FIFA plans to keep technology out of football. I can't wait for this shitstorm to start - especially if the scoreline doesn't change much in the second half.

Some beautiful football from Germany though.

Well there we are.
3 goals
2 draws
1 win
a 4-1 raping at the hands of Germany.
This is the definition of "Golden Generation". 4 games of dismal football.

All this talk about England getting confidence from a classic Germany clash turned out to be bullshit too. This made their performance against Algeria look amazing. Our defense especially was total shite. Total fucking shit.

I really hope people drop the disallowed goal incident and intead look at why such a great set of players failed to ever function as a team.

The torture of being an England fan is over until Euro 2012.
