Quitting the scene

Post by Specially Cork » Tue Feb 16, 2010 4:20 am

As many of you know, I have worked very hard supporting this scene with my ports of Doom mods, music for DCRPG, reviews of homebrew games, and most recently - a link to a Youtube video. Despite everything I have done however, there has been many things I haven't done - such as releasing ports of doom mods, actually making music for DCRPG, keeping my homebrew reviews site and probably some other stuff I once promised too.

Anyway, I have never officially said I have stopped work on this, and I know many have been waiting for the day when I would come through for you all with the goods. I've now decided though that it's time for me to hang-up my VMU and retire to the Hall of Fame where I'm sure you'll put me. I'll still post on the forums of course, just don't expect any releases from me anymore.

Apologies to my fans, and good luck in the future.

I know it's tough, and for many people it will feel like the one guy with the power to kill the scene is doing exactly that, but I'm a person with a wife and a career and they take priority over the scene. I spent years on my homebrew Shenmue 3 game, even going so far as to never mention it at all so I could surprise you guys, but when it came to spellchecking my name on the credits I just lost interest and deleted the whole thing.

The good news is I now have plenty of freetime to focus on my original love; a Barcode Battler emulator and peripheral for Windows ME computers.

May I suggest that you also make it compatible with Win32s on Windows 3.1? I'd be happy to beta test that configuration for you.

Can we host hilarious pictures of Sean Bryant, and old IRC chat logs here instead?

Wait, a better idea; lets all go hang out at TheKickBack!

No, because they were donations, not payments. I used the money for what I said I would use it for, and I am under no obligation to provide my donators with anything else than that.

Here is a list of projects people can continue if they want:

- TwistDC (a Dreamcast version of the popular party game Twister)

- UltraFragDC (a port of the open-source disk defrag program)

- Washington DC (this is just a name I thought was funny, I didn't make a game for this yet)

- DC Charades (press a button on the joypad and a charade will appear on the VMU, then you act it out for everyone else)

Hi gays, GOOD NEWS! I am returning to the scene. Seeing this place turn into a shithole full of gaping fisted assholes has left me feeling depressed and after turning to the Holy Bible, I now realise you are simply a wandering flock I must punish myself for abandoning.

Here are the current projects I hope to release after the end of next year.

- Cuntface

Look at that guy's face. He's a fucking cunt.
20 Awesome levels

- Angry Birds: The Pianist

Another great movie tie in!
