Courtney Love plans to take legal action over the representation of her late husband in Guitar Hero 5. Love launched a Twitter tirade, insisting that she never agreed to Kurt Cobain's final appearance in the video game – let alone the functionality that lets him lip-sync to Bon Jovi. " never signed off on the avatar, let alone this fucking feature!" she wrote. "There's been four breaches of a very strict contract."
...
The Guitar Hero developers said that it was "great to work with [Love]". "Courtney supplied us with photos and videos," said Activision vice president Tim Riley. "She picked the wardrobe and hairstyle, which turned out to be the 'Teen Spirit' look, then we went back and forth over changes – some subtle, some not so subtle ... [She wanted a] sort of athletic definition but not overly so."
...
But for now, Love plans to head to the courts. "We are going to sue the shit out of Activision; 'we' being the Trust, the Estate, the LLC, the various LLCs, Cobain Enterprises ... For the record, this Guitar Hero shit is breach of contract on a bully's part and there will be a proper addressing of this and retraction."
Fuck Courtney Love, she should have never let this get off the ground. Kurt Cobain would absolutely detest these games Im sure and probably has been rolling over in his grave ever since it was decided he would be in it. Also they should quit putting dead people who would likely want nothing to do with this game in the game.
The vile woman probably didn't read the contracts she was signing, if she genuinely was protecting his image, why allow it full stop, even if he was singing only his own material in the game? The rock star celebrity stuff obviously made him miserable when he was alive, so it seems pretty distasteful.

Then Nirvana fans need to lighten the fuck up. It's a video game. I found it quite humorous to see Kurt Cobain singing Public Enemy.

Well, imagine what would happen if they had Michael Jackson singing Weezer. It's just a WTF kind of thing (and a little disrespectful to the artist).
lol, get over it. If Kurt cared so much then maybe he wouldn't of killed him self so he could defend him self.

Just you wait for DJ Hero, if that doesn't kill the genre nothing will

I love these sorts of games and always will. I used to go to the arcade to play guitar freaks, switched to DDR for a long while, got me some DK Bongos, pop 'n music for the DC, guitar hero for Wii, etc. It seems though, that a lot of people who like this guitar hero/rock band stuff enjoy it more for the 'rock' appeal of it than the rhythm/music stuff.

I am aware of this, but how mainstream was it? I think I saw the peripheral once in Australia. If DJ Hero is anything like GH, it will be shoved down our throats here.
