Dreamcast: Street Fighter 3 Question?

Post by cube_b3 »

I hear the port was awful, I remember playing it but their was an enormous delay in you pressing the button and Ryu kicking ken.

I was wondering if I should get it for PS2 or DC, I want to get it for the DC?

The Dreamcast port of Third Strike was pretty good.

The music is a little different and I think they removed a few frames of animation, but it's still the mature fighter it always was.

Isn't the PS2 version just a port of the Dreamcast version, anyway?

The PS2 version of the game doesn't have the input delay the DC version has, so nab the PS2 one.

They ported the game over to the system TWICE!

They still didn't get it right, pathetic.

What?
If you mean Double Impact/Third Strike, they are different games.

Double Impact has SFIII - New Generation and SFIII - Giant Attack, and they seem to be straightforward ports from the arcade games.

I can't tell superficial differences between Third Strike on Dreamcast and PS2, other than the dual shock is better suited for it.

They are like upgrades, it is the same engine.

Either way I've already bought the game so need to cry anymore.

I bought W Impact and 3rd Strike.

I have to say that with impact is quite a bad game, the controls are awful and outside the Arcade mode Capcom didn't do anything, even the menu's are horrible.

3rd Strike on the other hand isn't Arcade perfect but compared to W/Impact the game is an exponential improvemnt feaaturing proper menu's, training, remixes and a lot more.

I have to get the ps2 version to compare it is most unfortunate the dc version wasn't perfect it sucks I would be playing the ps2 version over the dc version.

Next question how bad is the alpha 3 port?

The SFA3 port is good. It has some extra features, and load times are great.

The only ports that beat it were the Saturn version (which goes for around $90 online, but is still the best version of SFA3) and the PS2 version (which lacks a lot of features but is absolutely arcade-perfect). The PSP version runs great on Slim PSPs (they have better d-pads and faster UMD drives), but the load times are usually the same length as the Dreamcast's.

sf3 is pretty good on dreamcast, i play the arcade version and no noticeable differences exists. In fact, a good arcade player need to adjust to environment conditions like the smoke of the cigarrettes, fat players (in small arcades they uses the 75% of space), bad buttons, destroyed joysticks and the ugly background music from the music machines.

Yeah you can adjust to that, it shouldn't be to hard but delay in actions is what kills everything for example in Street Fighter 3 it is really hard to execute a blooody ShaRyuKen with Ken or Ryu.

The only differences that I've noticed from the arcade version is that the default DC pad makes it difficult to pull off certain moves.

Other than suggesting that you use an arcade stick, or an off brand controller with a better dpad, I'd say the DC version is just fine.

No missing animations, no controller delays, etc...

I obtained the Xbox version of Street Fighter III. Nice features like online (which no one uses anymore), original and arranged soundtrack options, etc.

I believe it's built off the PS2 version.
