(GC) Freeze while patching

Sylverant is a homebrew open source server for Phantasy Star Online. Dreamcast users still play PSO online with this server even today! This is the official forum for both the online game server as well as the open source project itself. Feel free to post and get a gathering started online! We can also show you how to get connected!

(GC) Freeze while patching

Post by Tayumpee »

I am on Gamecube playing PSO E1&2 (not plus) on all original hardware and while applying the movement runtime patch, my game froze. I've left it running because last time something similar happened, I shut off the Gamecube and the character save corrupted. Does anybody have a recommendation of what I should to to make sure my save does not corrupt?

When your memory card gets old, it can take longer to save. Wait a few seconds before applying any patches. Sega coded patching incorrectly in non Plus, so you sometimes crash when applying patches. You can use the Combination 1 and 2 patches to reduce the crashing risk compared to applying patches one by one. You only lose Meseta when you crash on the patch menu, so if you bank it, you won't lose anything.
