Spanish indie developer Retro Sumus came to the fore in late 2014 when new Dreamcast-bound visual novel AMEBA was announced. Since then, work has been progressing steadily behind the scenes and we decided it was about time that we uncovered just what Retro Sumus is all about. In this exclusive interview with lead writer Carlos Oliveros, we find out a little more about the team, AMEBA and discover that there’s another extremely promising (and previously unannounced) Dreamcast game on the horizon…
Contrary to what is common in the video game and movie industries, composer Juanjo Martín has been there since the very first moment the plot for AMEBA was being planned. Which means he contributed some ideas for the main characters. This is what happens when Juanjo and Carlos meet for a late night brainstorming session…
Daniel Horvath aka 108stars, who did the pixel art for Pier Solar, interviewed me the other day for NexGam. What's the big news? Well, as you know, Ameba will be released for the Saturn as well. But the new details are: we are releasing the game in a cardboard box similar to the classic japanese ones which included game+cart. Why? Because we are using a custom cart too!
