Well I've knocked up some AI code today in my lunch break. I know you all want to play the DC version, but I can't attempt to port to DC until I know the Windows version is good enough.

Here is the 4-player Windows version, I'm not going to post on the BORrev main page until i'm happy with it, but at the moment it seems to be working fine for me.

http://borrevolution.vg-network.com/4PLAYWIN2044.zip

Please test and let me know of any bug reports

Remember its a BETA. If this works I will start porting to the DC in the next few days.

Sir Savant: I'm including my source with all DC releases so you should be able to download it when its released in the next week or so.

Sweet.

I have to admit that a 4-player based version would be better than any other version, so I hope this comes out good. I am downloading this test now, but wait a while. I am on dialup.

Ok, the 4 player version is done now, tested it on my DC and fixed a bug or two, but......... Oh no! I ran out of CD-R's before testing was complete.

I need to find a couple of people to test there are no immediate bugs in it (e.g. all 4 pads work, it doesn't crash or freeze) and then I'll release a beta here for the rest of you guys to beta test (to work all any smaller bugs like lifebar positions or spawn locations).

So finger crossed, it should be out either today or tomorrow.

Well, you can all be beta testers.

After some testing, I'm finally releasing OpenBOR 4-Player for the Dreamcast.

Dreamcast Standard Version
http://openbor.net/openborw/DC4PLAYER-BETA1FAST.zip

Dreamcast Memory Saving Version
http://openbor.net/openborw/DC4PLAYER-BETA1.zip

Of course if you do find any bugs, feel free to let me know as there probably are a few. This is based on 2.0043 of CG's source code, hopefully now 4 player is finished, he wouldn't mind adding it to the main code so every new release is 4 player, but its up to him.

Enjoy :D

You'll have to forgive me if these instructions are a little off, but I haven't burnt much for my DC in the last year as its been 30 miles away at my parents.

I only know how to burn for single games per disc at the moment. You will need a program called DIR2BOOT (I got mine from http://imrtechnology.ngemu.com/downloads/dir2boot.zip) which you need to unzip.

Next you need to unzip OpenBOR and download a mod for it.

Copy the BOR.PAK into the same folder as IP.BIN and 1st_Read.bin then run DIR2BOOT.

Go to browse and find the folder with your files in.

Choose whether you want to burn a CDI (discjuggler) or NRG (Nero) file, this will depend on what you have installed on your system. I usually use Nero.

Wait for a minute then you will have a cd image file.

Burn the image file with whatever program you use for burning.

If anyone else can give clearer tips, then please do.

Essentially the same but easier to use: BootDreams!
Get it from here: http://www.consolevision.com/members/fackue

You don't need a IP.BIN when using BootDreams, it creates it for you! It even burns your CDI files too, so no need for Alcohol120 or DiscJuggler.

Kirby, couldn't you load this up with DCHakker (the openbor mod) and then use it? Like this:

Multisession cd-burn with first version of openbor and a mod.
Load Openbor with DCHakker (or DemoMenu).
When a change is made to openbor, just reburn onto same cd.

Just a tip for future testing. That should work, unless DCHakker or DemoMenu or whatever it is called does not want to load up openbor.

I am downloading as I type, and the Windows version worked okay except I had to screw around with virtualcontrollers (I had to map a few things on my keyboard cause of windows) in order to get it workign without testing 4 different joypads. It does at least recognize my HID controller, which is always a plus!

I'm afraid the 4 player version I posted earlier was the memory saving version, which has much longer loading times. Please download the standard version from here:

Dreamcast Standard Version
http://openbor.net/openborw/DC4PLAYER-BETA1FAST.zip

This should cut loading times by about half.

The memory save version can still be downloaded from the same link.

I'm not quite sure what you mean Vlame. I've already explained how to burn a copy. For more information on Beats of Rage, visit http://www.senileteam.com and for more on OpenBOR visit http://www.openbor.net.

Both sites have manuals on how to make your own mod. Seniles site should have some sort of link to how to burn the mods.

http://borrevolution.vg-network.com/cmods.html is a good place to get games, though not all the best ones are there. There are also some in the demo section.

Use IsoBuster to extract the PAK file from the image.

Yeah, I was about to post about slow loading times. That was a close one.

Other than that, I saw no significant errors. I tested it with some revamped original bor that I think was included in the first BOR compilation disc.

Third player's score counter is always at "0"!
My friend was like, "Why am I even playing?, it's not keeping my score!"
Then all 3 of us laughed!

P.S. Kirby I am so ready for rumble support, I have 4 rumble packs now!
