Soul Calibur (DC)

Post by stagg »

I just started playing this and it really is amazing. I can't stop playing it and thank god I started because without my 360 I would be going nuts. It also has aged very well and still looks absolutely stunning. Anyone else still play this game?

Soul Calibur was the first original video game I ever purchased myself. So it holds significant Symbolic value, the software wasn't the only thing impressive; the casing was phenomenal in its own right (I am talking about the PAL cases, at the time I wasn’t aware of how fragile they were).

Right now, I can’t wait to change my copy of Soul Calibur in exchange for an NTSC/U one to complement the rest of my collection, plus it wouldn’t require a damn CD X.

The Souls will never die!

If only a descent mod would delete all the null crap, anyway the mission mode in Soul Calibue was really awesome had a lot of intresting stories to read and amuzing missions such as the one with the rats on the floor.

The best thing was I finished the whole mission mode and challenged my brother for a match, naturally he was intimidated but he still kicked my ass, so much for all the hours of practice :P.

How long does the Mission Mode take to beat. I am getting into the 4 star matches now and have about 200 of all the cards.

Right now I am just using Rock on the hard parts. B,Hold B,YB, then AX to throw them over the edge. Sometimes I need a few Y jabs in there, but it is pretty easy. Right now I am stuck, I am at a point where I am poisoned and I need to take out 4 guys with the same health bar. It's a bitch.

I beat the entire game pretty easy and then accidently deleted my save. I pretty much never picked it up again although I do play the arcade SC everyonce in a while.

I think after playing Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast, I lost all interest in fighting games because I have hardly played any since!

You are right in thinking the game has aged gracefully and there probably too many "modern" fighting games out there that are as balanced as that game is. That is what really makes it head and shoulders above everything else in the genre.

SC4 will the game that finally makes SC1 look visually outdated. PS2 wasnt strong enough to make SC1 look bad. Plus SC2 and 3 didnt support VGA. SC2 also went with a more cartoonie look which didnt even compare to SC1.
