DC IGN is being redone.

Neat stuff, I'm looking forward to the new things. I really hope they will take some new screenshots with higher quality, though I think it's a small chance.

Edit: Judging from the dates they added new ones, or the dates have simply changed. Too bad they don't give any comments to the images and they still have the same crap image quality. It's pretty darn hard to find good quality screenshots for DC.

They're reusing the resources they already have!
They MUST use VGA to screenshot!
Also they MUST review import games... the 250 US titles are half of what the DC had to offer, and some of the best titles are left out... REZ, Space Shannel 5 p2, headHunter, Shenmue 2, Ikaruga (not sure if it was released in the US, was it?), Under Defeat...etc.

Well I already send an email to the person (FloiganBros) who wrote that first article to say that, maybe if other would do the same they will consider?

I think IGN DID have a Shenmue 2 review before, but they left out the others you mentioned. They should try to get a complete database with reviews for all the games that are import friendly as well, such as Chaos Field, Trizeal, Baldr Force Exe, Radirgy and Under Defeat, so that at least it won't seem like DC died in 2002.

Yeah, why the hell are all of IGN's screenshots so crappy looking? Shouldn't it just be easier with DC's VGA box?

Imagine if somebody could talk them into reviewing homebrew. It sounds like the team of guys doing this like the DC as much as we do. Perhaps we can send them the Dreamcast commercial homebrews. Now that would rock.

And then they'd expect everyone to have a 1337 20mbit download connection to download a 1gb <> 4gb game? Doesn't make sense to me, even though it would be cool and worth the wait.

IGN DC Is covering everything (not sure if homebrew) however there current mission statement is to rank every dreamcast game once again...

Aside from that they will be reviewing imports as they just reviewed Railgy

It would be pretty sweet of a copy of Feet of Fury or a compilation of Beats of Rage games were to land on their desk for testing....

I am pretty happy about the relaunch. I have a part-time job in a game store, and I am fortunate to work with plenty of people that are pro-Sega. So pushing out the Sega love on the IGN site is a good thing. However, I do hope that they get their hands on some imports. That would be sweet!

Doesn't Beats of Rage use a lot of copyrighted sprites and stuff? I've heard some people complain about that, pushing it into a grey area.

I received a thought provoking PM so I thought you should all take a look
Lord Nikon sums it up best.
lordnikon wrote:*sigh*

IGN has conned the entire Dreamcast community.

Let's say you run an online e-zine. You have advertisements on your website. What is a great way to pull in some extra traffic? Easy. Just target an older game console with a diehard fanbase. This is a wicked viral marketing stunt, and guess what... it's working.

This news has spread to almost every other Dreamcast community and has been posted on countless other forums.

Have any of you actually READ what they are saying in their text?

They are posting garbage juvenile dribble, that comes off like some doped up myspace idiot writing his immediate impressions of a Dreamcast game.

Here is what IGN had to say about these games:
Bang! Gunship Elite - IGN wrote:If you manage to find a copy of Bang! (and getting a hold of this game is about as easy as finding nuts in the winter), you'll probably have this reaction: "Holy s@&# this game kicks ass!"
Bang! Gunship Elite - IGN wrote:In that sense, Bang! Gunship Elite is a lot like having a wife. It's good, but it's the same crap every day.
Bang! Gunship Elite - IGN wrote:Don't let the name fool you, Bang! doesn't suck ass.
San Francisco RUSH 2049 - IGN wrote:Playing SF Rush is like trying to score with a girl in high school. You can always take the long road if you're patient or you can try and navigate the shortcuts from first base to third.
I can't see how IGN "revisiting" Dreamcast titles is good news at all. This is horrible. They seem to be taking a shock value approach to get a reaction. Either that, or they are trying to further culture their readers into being more fanboy superVegetaSaijin69 "your game sux my game r0x0rs" than they already are.

Is it really hard to write legitimate journalism for 3 tiny paragraphs? IGN's comments are so off the wall there is no way they can be legitimate. I have to assume their comments are not honest, and are pre-manufactured to support an alterior motive.

IGN is exploiting the Dreamcast to pull in site traffic.

Well let them do so, at least it gives me something nice to read :P

As long as I don't get spyware on my pc I don't care for them getting a benefit from me reading their lousy talk. While I have to agree that most Gamefaqs' reviews have more value.

I think Lord Nikon has got a point, but I'm a sucker for everything that is DC so I will not miss out on any article that has got anything to say about it. And I think that we all know better than to buy a game based on a single review from a website like IGN. One thing that bugs me though is their slow approach. At this rate we will probably see Shenmue getting rated somewhere in 2008.
