There are hardly any differences at all. For the most part, the DC and the PS2 games are the same, except the PS2 one is better. A few costumes are changed, and maybe a few extras, but to be honest there wasn't much to change to begin with.

Serious fighting games = 2D games from 7 or 8 years ago, originally made for Neo Geo systems? :o

If you'd like to play a real fighting game, may I suggest Street Fighter 2? Since pretty much every other fighting game is a variation on it.

Okay, something newer: Guilty Gear X.

BTW, Stormwatch, wasn't saying those other ones were bad or anything, but everyone has their preferences. Some like polygonal boobies.

Are not, both fortunately and unfortunately. DOA2 JP (either regular or LE) is the best version in my opinion, though!
That website is full of crap. For all intents and purposes, the games are the same. There are no "sloppy and inconsistent" controls in the PS2 version at all.
Actually, there is some pretty severe lag in the PS2 Hardcore version compared to the DC one... well, I noticed it anyway.

Also, the DC:LE version has 2 extra stages the other DC versions don't.

And 2D fighters do rock... but Dead or Alive does have a surprising amount of depth... especially considering that's not the first thing most people buy the game for... haha.

I want to know about the story in Dead or Alive games. I'm a little confused because I only have DoA2 US.

Mai was better in anime. I don't like how her face look. Kasumi is better because she looks real, but still have her anime cute face.

The story in DOA? There are a few fansites that feature the story for the franchise, but I cannot recall the addresses. I will look around and see if I can find them again though.

DOA 2 for me is the best game. Like Mortal Kombat 2 I suppose, it is the definitive title for the franchise.

I only played DoA2 and DoA3. I played DoA3 in a store once but didn't have the time to finish the game. I noticed that the models didn't have big changes, only minor changes in the characters faces, and more details in their clothes.

What do you mean by "never working". They load fine on my PC, and I'm using modem.

It's ok. DOA Ultimate for XBOX comes with DOA 1 and 2. Their version of DOA1 is the same as the Sega Saturn version, no enhancements whatsoever. The XBOX version of DOA2 is the same as your Dreamcast version with the addition of graphical enhancements, new stages, even more costumes and the addition of Hitomi, a character from DOA3.

There is also a new intro for DOA 2 when you start the game up, it reveals some background information on Kasumi and Ayane. Other than that though, it's the same game. You probably wouldn't want the game for it's single player value, as there is none. The cutscenes haven't changed and the so-called 'endings' are the same.
