What is Segagen?

First off, I am not interested in having this or aquiring this, but in a recently closed thread someone mentioned it was illegal. I am crious to know what exactly is it?

In the USA there was a commercial game released called "Sega Smash Pack volume 1", this GD was basically a Genesis/Megadrive emulator with 12 games and a port of the PC game Virtua Cop 2.

Anyway the GD was ripped and a hacker group edited it so that it could load nearly almost all of the Genesis/Megadrive roms that are available on the internet.

Segagen is a Sega-developed Genesis emulator that was used in the commercial DC game, Sega Smash Pack, which was a collection of a few Genesis classics. The emulator, however, was ripped and hacked to be used to play other games. Despite it being the best Genesis emulator available for DC, because it is a hacked commercial product, it's illegal, and therefore not allowed on DCEmu.

Best to wait for crt0's DC genesis emu. Or get a modded PS2 and burn PGEN.
