DC component cables?

Post by Eckostyle »

Do they exist?

I want to buy a DC again and stream some gameplay while I relive this wonderful console, but my PVR (Hauppauge HD PVR2 gaming Edition) only accepts HDMI and Component connections.

If not, can anyone recommend a composite device that's ideal for streaming older 32-bit consoles? I plan to nab a Saturn and a N64 as well, two consoles I'd rather not emulate.

Lastly, does the PSO DC custom server still get any play?

Well, we do have a few dedicated players on Sylverant. I don't really know about the Dreamcast population on any other servers.

Shame, I'd rather enjoy the game on a couch with my DC controller. :(

Sylverant works fine with the Dreamcast version and we have a few people who still play regularly on the Dreamcast. I was just saying I don't know how other servers are doing, Dreamcast user wise.

Believe me, I wouldn't be pushing a PSO server here that didn't support the Dreamcast.

I was going to suggest something that didn't pop into my head until today, with regard to your cabling situation, but that solution there is much cheaper anyway.

What you could have done failing finding the cables to hook up composite/s-video would be to get a Dreamcast VGA box and a VGA->HDMI converter box or a VGA->Component converter. Not exactly a cheap solution, but it would've worked.

Dreamcast in 480P is beautiful. You can buy VGA -> HDMI converters, which will do a upscalling to 720P or 1080P. I personally play on just VGA, since I specifically bought a TV that still has that port for my dreamcast.

Check out this guys videos. He talks about a VGA to Component and a VGA to HDMI converter. They are a bit pricey though if I recall correctly. Good Luck!
