Man, even in my town (Fleetwood, PA), drugs are readily available. You can live in a town for years and then find out that a house you drive by everyday is the main drug hub of the town. Even one of the local pizzeria's used to sell coke.

It is kinda weird that I walked less than a mile to and from one day while still hungover from otc meds to buy cocaine, but I had to get my friend to go drive and pick me up cigarettes lol; however, even with all the drug shiz going on I still can not agree with people going to jail for ingesting a substance I also don't want them legal. It really is not a black and white matter for me.

btw: I do not personally do drugs anymore and yes I judge those who do them constantly as waste of space.

You wouldn't kill a person trying to take your life? Or maybe your daughter's? It isn't paranoia. You obviously don't live in a big city with bad crime. Try living in central city New Orleans for a year.

Try fixing the high crime rate then. That's the problem here, nothing else. You talk about this situation like it's normal and to be expected - it isn't. I've lived in several big cities in several countries, and I've never felt it's so dangerous that I need a gun.

Home invasions in New Orleans aren't scarce. 3 have happened this month so far. New Orleans has the highest murder rate in the United States of America (Not only the highest, but 7.54 times the National Average). With a corrupt government, and bankrupt agencies, there simply aren't enough police officers to cover half of the turf. Now I could pick a corner to protest on, or buy a gun to protect me and my loved ones. Half of my friends have chosen the latter just this year.

I don't know which places you speak of, but I feel safe in assuming that none of them were neighborhoods containing housing projects in New Orleans.

I live in a neighborhood of apartment complexes that is primarily composed of college students and immigrant workers.

The majority of it is. New Orleans doesn't really have a gang scene like cities such as Los Angeles.
