Just don't go demanding money when no other nations acknowledge this day.

I think Canada Day came up literally every 30 seconds today while I was at work (on the Interns List)...

Got really annoying after a while.

I'm pretty sure the rest of the world would agree that July 4, 1776 was a much more important date than July 1, 1867. Sorry.
It's thinking...

How about July 3, 1608?

I wasn't comparing the two. I was merely stating the relatively negative view the rest of the world has towards America and it's (generally) pretentious views (from its citizens) of itself. But, if you want to compare dick size, Canada (or Quebec for that matter) has been populated much longer than America has. If you want some reading material, look up L'Anse aux Meadows.

in all honesty 21 April 1836 is a more important date than either. More importantly though March 6 of that very same year happened. Without out that it would all suck.

Actually, all of North America has been populated for thousands of years. So, I don't know what you're talking about.

And "The World Hates America" isn't much of an argument against its immense influence over the entire globe, economically, militarily, and especially culturally.

As a representative of the "rest of the world" I would like to say 2 things:

1) I didn't know there was a "Canada Day" until I read this topic.

2) Independence Day is considerably more important. Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum did more for the planet than any Canadian many ever has. How many alien motherships has Bryan Adams blown-up hmm?
