I've got an old external CD burner lying around and I'm wondering if I can swap the CD burner with a hard drive.
Or rather, I'm wondering if I'll be able to mount the drive afterwards.
Thanks
Would this work (IDE--->USB)?

Re: Would this work (IDE--->USB)?
You should be able to. 99% of external drives (cd or hdd) are just standard equipment in an external enclosure w/ a usb->ide converter inside.
So, you shouldnt have a problem taking the cd drive out and putting it in a computer. But, as for putting an hdd in the enclosure, unless you have a 3 1/2 to 5 1/4 adapter tray or something, you probably will have mounting issues.

And if there are mounting issues then you best bet would be to go buy a cheap external enclosure. I've got a DYNEX USB 2.0 one for $15.

Thanks. I'll see what happens when I try it and I'll get an external enclosure if need be.
Where's toastman? I'm bored.
