Rush's "Snakes and Arrows" album.
I don't know how many of you are into Rush, but I'm guessing at least DCemu's Canadian audience is acquainted with them. I just picked up their new album "Snakes and Arrows," and I was wondering what people's impressions are.
I am actually enjoying it. It's a newer, darker sound for Rush, and I'm digging it. There's no keyboarding coming from Lee this time around, but there's plenty of hardcore, Rush-style instrumentation throughout the album. Lee also proves that he can still sing. His voice sounds just as great as ever to me.
I think the album proves that 50 year old men can still rock. If you're a Rush fan, definitely pick this one up.

I was thinking about getting it.But I had heard that Lee's voice isn't that good on this album. When I get some money, I might check it out.

I still need to listen to it. I heard it's pretty solid though.
Perhaps a cliche, but Passage To Bangkok FTW.

I'm proudly Canadian, and I am the biggest Rush hater you'll ever meet. WORST. BAND. EVER.
No joke, they are fucking irritating. They push all the wrong buttons. Lyrics suck, rhythm sucks, and Geddy Lee's vocals, ugh. THEY DRIVE ME NUTS!

What DO you like? You seem to bash any band that comes up in IRC or the forums, I'm interested to know what you call "good music".Code-Red wrote:I'm proudly Canadian, and I am the biggest Rush hater you'll ever meet. WORST. BAND. EVER.

I guess that explains perfectly why Neil Peart is so hated by drummers.Code-Red wrote:rhythm sucks

Really? What bands have I bashed? I don't recall harping on anyones taste of music (except AFI, which is called for), so if you can go ahead and get me a copy of the history in IRC when I was bashing bands, that would be great.Luriden wrote:What DO you like? Heres a very, very short list of my bands:
ZZ Top
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Dire Straits
Genesis
Pink Floyd
Beatles
Capiche?

No one beats the skill level of Rush. All three members are extremely talented musicians. I am a great fan of their work. Personally, I believe Neil Peart to be the best rock drummer outside of John Bonham from Led Zepplin. They are a musicians and music lovers band. A bit like listening to classical music. You can hear the music, but if you know about music theory or play music. You can thoroughly enjoy the music and what all went into making the songs and music involved. It's always fun seeing these guys play in concert.

I beg to differ. Although Dream Theater probably wouldn't exist without groups like Rush and Yes, the members of DT could play circles around anyone in either of those groups.zman wrote:No one beats the skill level of Rush.
