I'm not sure if I can ask this here or not due to the legality but on my campus we share this one access point and sometimes the connection just dies. I know this idiot who likes to download at least 50 torrents at once and I can always tell when he has his bittorent running because the rest of the building can't get online at all. The IT department on campus won't fix it because they don't give a shit, and why should they anyway?
Is there any way I can kick him off the network even if it is just temporarily? I don't have administrator rights on the access point but I can get into it on a user level and see the client list.
I just made a shortcut with "shutdown.exe -i" in it and I sent a request to shut down his IP address, seems to be much faster now. I wonder if it actually worked though, lol. I can't seem to ping his address and the program returned no errors.
I talked to him and told him that running more than 4 torrents at once slows down the whole building as well as his downloads since you have all those torrents trying to make and maintain connections. Hopefully I got through to him.
No it's not. That's a terrible idea because then he'll have a girlfriend that will want him to download Hallmark movies and Carrie Underwood CDs for her.
