Quick Processor Q

Post by btm4k »

My mobo is supposedly compatible with procs up to the Athlon XP 2400+. I'm currently using an 1800+, but my buddy just gave me a spare 2500+. Same socket. Anyone happen to know if it will work and register as just a 2400+?

Probably not, but you never know.

Is there a firmware update for the mobo anywhere?

If the only difference is clock speed, you can probably underclock it.

any 2500 is a 166 fsb cpu, the up to 2400+ limit suggests a max FSB of 133, meaning the 2500 would run underclocked, if it runs at all
