I'm stuck runnin it on a 2.8Ghz P4, 512MB & a crappy FX5900XT, even so after tweaking some settings (& turning off trees & water, with the odd effect lakes & rivers are pink when viewed from above & totally clear to the bottom untill you jump in) considerin I average between 20-30fps then you guys should do decently on the PC, my answer then go for whichever ones cheaper for you.
theres no-one else to blameThe Prisoner - Makes NGE's ending look almost intelligible.
Bored? figure out where the above lines from. Answers

360
+ Steady Framerate
+ Nicer controls / Interface (PC is kind of clunky as it was designed for 360 primarily)
+ Unlikely to hit specific PC related bugs (crash to desktop etc)
+ Official mods slightly cheaper / easier to install
+ 'Achievements'
- No access to console, so a broken quest bug means either reload a previous save (so keep them!) or restarting from scratch - and there are game breaking bugs in the game that you don't have the workarounds PC users have
- No access to user created mods
- Possibly worse graphics etc depending on the state of your gaming rig
PC
+ Possibly nicer graphics
+ Access to user created content
+ Cheaper
+ Patch available now, and console workarounds for issues not addressed by patch
+ Free TES construction set included lets you create your own content / tweak existing game to your hearts content
- More likely to crash for no real reason, especially on leaving program
- Official downloadable content more expensive / more of a hassle (eg secured installer doesnt work on 64bit OS)
- more of a hassle to play on a big telly
- clunkier interface / lockpicking minigame less fun / more awkward controls
- choppier framerate without heavy .ini modifications
I play it on the 360, but I read a lot of walkthroughs / spoilers so I know where the 360 game breaking bugs are, and can sidestep the things that are broken (most infamously the Clavicus shrine and thieves guild questline can become uncompletable on the 360) or make multiple saves for an 'iffy' bit.
If you dont want spoilers in advance, want access to lots of user created content, easy fixes for broken game bugs, and dont mind lots of tweaking to get things the way you want get the PC version.
If you want streamlined, 'plug and play' fun, and think you're going to be happy with the 'vanilla' aspect of the game, maybe paying a few quid for some expansions every so often, and have some 'achievements' to give you objectives outside of the main quest, get the 360 version.
As an idea, my 'main characters' save file is something like 90 hours of gameplay, and I've barely touched the main quest, fighters guild and mages guild quest arcs.

I'd go with the 360 version, just so you can sit on your couch while you play it.
Thats why I enjoy console games a lot, I can actually be very comfortable while I play instead of close to a screen, hunched over a kb and mouse.
... but I do it because I <3 cs ... even though I'm awful ACE WE SHOULD PLAY

I'd say 360, for three reasons--two are practical, one is personal preference.
1. Personally, I prefer gaming on a console. It just keeps things easier and tidier, and lets me use my huge-ass TV.
2. Though you do lose the modding option, you don't have to worry about getting anything to work with your system. Pop in the disc, and go.
3. Retention of value. If you ever get tired of it, you can resell it and get at least *something* back. Nobody buys used PC games, though.

I was going to make my own thread about this, but I may as well stick it here.
Im thinking about getting Oblivion for the PC. My rig is:
SEMPRON 3000
1GB DDR RAM
RADEON 9600 256MB
I know there is no way I will get anywhere near the full graphics of this game, but will I get it to work? Even if its with oldblivion I'd be happy. The thing is though, oldblivion doesnt mention support for 9600 chipset so I'm not too sure.

I have a Powerful pc but still got it for 360 & the only real downside on the 360 ver is the crap loading times. It looks good on a normal TV still & there is only a slight improvment on hi def tv with this game mainly on the txt & in game menu.
However you can layback & relax playing this game on a 360 with no probs & still do things like cheat by putting tape on the controller to build stats up.

I've been playing Morrowind lately on the PC, and when I get bored of my level 17 Argonian Knight I will be buying Oblivion.
I originally was going to get an Xbox 360 and the game, but I can't really afford a 360, so it looks like I'll be buying it on PC.
If I had the choice between the Xbox 360 and the PC, I reckon the Xbox 360 would be the best version of get. At least you're guaranteed that it's going to run well, with all the graphical trickery turned on.
The only thing that would make me consider the PC version is if you have a good gaming system, if there are BAD bugs in the 360 version, or if you want to play mode or mod the game yourself.
If you end up getting it on PC post how well it runs, so I will have a good idea on how it will go on my PC.

it runs fine on my bros pc, which is -
3 ghz p4
2 gig ram
radeon 9550
only thing he had to tweak was the water (which was solid black before a small config tweak was applied) and turn the screen resolution down a notch (or two)
his GFX card ain't exactly current gen, but then his PC is mostly for music.
we were both surprised how well it actually ran when he got it.
