Sega Commercials...

Post by Smiley »

dunno if this has been posted before but while googling found this really cool site with tons of old sega commercials

http://www.goodcowfilms.com/farm/games/ ... ex_usa.htm

They have several commercials for genesis; sms; gg; saturn and dc.
as an old skool gamer, brought back a lot of memories: they have a commercial where a fat kid is sitting in park and he hits himself in the head with a dead sqirrel to see colours on the old black and white gameboy.

The site also has the theatre of the eye saturn commercial, among others...

Wow, great link, thanks a lot!

Funny however how Sega keeps boasting about their 3 processors in the Saturn, while that was also one of the reasons why developers preferred the PSX afaik.

OMFG, I forgot all about that Sonic 2 infomercial! And although most of them show their age, the Sonic Spinball one is a commercial that could hold up on the air today. Really good idea with that one.

Wow.... that soic infomercial is what made me get a genesis! I remember seeing the genesis advertised in JC Penneys... I ended up going to KB Toys and getting a genesis, and got the little mail in form for Sonic 2. Ah, memories.

I never liked those commercials. If you cant advertise your product without slandering what's better and doing well(SNES/PSX), than it not worth advertising, IMO.

I'm glad Sega diddnt do that during the DC era.

...Personally, I'd like to see a a DCEvo release of the Segata Sanshiro commercials, sort of along the lines of the Superman release. A complete archive of the commercials in chronological order (well...that doesn't matter so much as long as the last one is last), and maybe a little bit about the history of the ad campaign, the theme song, actor biography (wasn't he a fairly well-known martial artist or something?), and cover art/historical info about the Segata game.

*fake, sarcastic laugh* stfu.

On a lighter note, http://www.retrojunk.com has some nintendo commercials; and http://www.squizzle.com has the powerglove commercial and the zelda one where those two dorks are rapping about the game. Always good for a laugh; sorry that I couldn't link directly to them but they should be easy to find.
