Magic Eye Meets Quake II

Quote: One enterprising gamer has applied the algorithm for SIRDS to Quake II, creating a Quake II mod called AbSIRD. Once you get your eyes adjusted to the pattern you'll be able to play the entirety of Quake II in a kind of faux 3D, without the aid of 3D glasses. Just make sure your boss doesn't catch you making weird faces at your seemingly static filled monitor!

I tried it out last night.. and after a few tries, I was able to get the scene into focus. I'd always wondered if it was possible to make moving magic eye images.. very cool
It's a bit hard to know what's what, being that everything has the same texture... random static. I would advise anyone prone to seizures to stay the heck away from this..

imagine focussing behind your monitor, so kinda glaze your eyes over and let your eyes go out of focus, then slowly focus back in. eventually you'll get it.Disheveled DrFreeze wrote:OMFG that almost broke my fracking retinas

For anyone who can't see it, http://www.magiceye.com/faq_example.htm
After using the technique on the page I could see the image in seconds.
I have to play this.

well i tried again, but all i could see was my gun
i could see my guns shape pretty well, and i could see the kickback from firing, but beyond the gun i couldnt make out anything, nothing enough to play any piece of the game..
its neat, but it doesnt work well enough to really be usefull, maybe a red/blue mod with glasses would work better

It's not a sailboat, it's a schooner.|darc| wrote:No, I can definately see it, but there's plenty of difference between a sailboat and a complex map with enemies and boxes and stuff.Hawq wrote:Its just a staticy mess, are you sure this guy isnt pulling a fast one?
