First video game experience

Post by D-Roc » Sat Dec 10, 2005 4:48 am

I was just wondering what everyone's first experience with video gaming was. Mine was when I was about 4 years old in 1982. I broke my arm after playing on a gym set. My older cousins felt bad for me and (Irony prevails) gave me their old Pong set made by Sears at the time. I remember playing that thing for hours. Shortly after, I discovered the 2600 and the rest is history...

My first video game experience is from when I was about 2 or 3 years old, using a Vic-20. I used to play a battle ship type game on it, and a version of Frogger.

Pacman at an old BurgerBox when I was a lot younger. It was a table you could sit at and eat and the screen was under the table.

Atari. Played games like Donkey Kong, Frogger, and Pole Position. I also learned to use a computer when I was 4 or 5 by playing games on it. I remember I had to type in all of the DOS commands and stuff :) .

My friends got two Nintendo's for Christmas, both with SMB. They got two because their mom didn't understand how Nintendo's worked, and therefore thought they each needed one so they wouldn't fight over it (despite they only had one TV). This was probably around 1985 or 86. I would have been 4 or 5.

It was on an Atari 2600 but I can't remember for the life of me what game. I want to say "Space Invaders" but I'm not sure, I was so young.

I remember playing video games before NES, but the moment that really stands out to me was when my dad brought it home. We hooked it up in my brother's room right away. After dieing very quickly in Mario a few times he found the secret mushroom on the first level. Both of us were in shock.

My brother got an NES in 88, or so, when he was 3. I wasn't born till 89, though, so it was the early ninties before I started playing the NES. We had a shitload of games that kept us interested until the snes was dying.
