Dreamcast Dev Kit and GD-Writer for sale

Post by oldskuel » Thu Nov 24, 2005 1:19 pm

I have a Dreamcast Dev Kit, GD-Writer HKT-04, 19 blank GD-R's, some games, some software like 3 copies of Windows CE Toolkit 2.1, 1 copy of Windows CE Toolkit 2.0, Sega Developer Technical Support Release 8 and 9, Windows CE Toolkit 1.1, and Dreamcast System disc Disc 2 S-3260 and S-3656. If anyone is interested in purchasing these items, PM me and make me an offer. I can also take pics and send them to show you the condition of the product. If anything, I will put these items on e-bay.

I don't think too many people (other than collectors) will be interested because of the fact that to use the dev kit, you need to have a license from Sega and that makes it prohibitively expensive, even for the best programmers we have got in the homebrew scene.

I'd love to have something like that, but alas, I know I couldn't afford it.
(Only really the tower/gdwriter part, the software's not useful to me).

i've only ever seen one picture of a set 4 and that was by goatdan, i don't know if he still has it or anything. if you post a picture i think i could tell the difference. set 4 is much taller than set 5, and i have never heard of anything below 4 or above 5.

Ah, I'm fairly sure that's a set 5 then.

Good stuff. But it just interests me as a collector, not for development.

well i know that most dev say they wont use this because of legal issues. which the dreamcast scene has always been quite impressive in keeping all homebrew legal. But say someone did create something with this with an average knowledge of dreamcast programming. How much of a difference would it make then them just using KOS?

absolutely none. IIRC kos can do anything that it can, as well as more things. Some of the things it would have though might be the proper ways to do some things (solving the mysteries of some of kos' 'magic numbers') as well as high level 3d graphics capabilities (which can be provided via iris3d or ogl or whatnot with kos).

basically it's not very usefull, and any use found in it can't be translated back to kos.
