POP perv Gary Glitter faces execution by firing squad after a girl of 12 said he had sex with her.
The depraved ex-glam rocker ? under arrest in Vietnam ? has been told he may be charged with raping a minor.
The crime means the death penalty, carried out by a five-man firing squad.
Almost 1,050 people were executed in Vietnam between 1997 and 2004.
Police are quizzing the girl in Vung Tau. Glitter rented a seaside villa there.
She says the paedophile ? real name Paul Gadd ? romped with her three times at ?5.50 a romp.
Even if she consented, sex with a minor is still considered rape in Vietnam.
Glitter faces the wrath of Vietnamese authorities determined to clamp down on child sex. Vietnam?s foreign ministry said the ?70s star is also being probed over a girl of 15 found living with him at the villa.
Glitter, 61, is said to have told the teenager: ?I don?t want to hurt you. All you have to do is have a bath.?
A THIRD girl, aged 18, said Glitter told her the same thing. Like the other two girls, she said he paid her ?5.50 to have sex.
A spokesman said: ?If evidence of violation is found, very strict legal measures will apply to him.?
The death penalty is rarely commuted. But Glitter might escape the sentence and get 12 years in one of the hell-hole jails.
The singer, who served three months in 1999 over child porn, is being held at a prison in Vung Tau.
He was seized at Ho Chi Minh City airport as he tried to flee at the weekend.
Lets hopt that if he somehow escapes shooting that the guys in prisons there are as tollerant of nonces as those in our prisons eh? justice will be done, on a related note lets hope the plastic nonce takes a trip to nam as well shall we? then we can be rid of that one as well. source

Was he convicted, or even charged? The article focuses on the punishment so much that it sounds like it's all done, but in the second sentence it just says that he "may be charged".
"You know, I have a great, wonderful, really original method of teaching antitrust law, and it kept 80 percent of the students awake. They learned things. It was fabulous." -- Justice Stephen Breyer
Gary Glitter and Michael Jackson are far less dangerous to children than a circumcising MD or a mohel. Kill them instead! And in some countries - Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru - even the younger one would be legal.

FIVE girls have admitted having sex with pop pervert Gary Glitter.
They are being quizzed by Vietnamese cops who are considering charging the shamed ?70s glam rocker.
Glitter, 61, faces a firing squad if convicted of raping one of the girls, who is 12.
The youngster and an 18-year-old have confessed he paid them ?5.50 for sex at his rented villa in the seedy seaside town of Vung Tau.
Now officers have spoken to three more girls who say they slept with the depraved star.
Glitter ? real name Paul Gadd ? is being detained for another three days at a jail near Vung Tau.
Sex with a minor is considered rape and carries the death penalty. But the pervert ? who served three months in 1999 for child porn ? has told cops he was TEACHING the girls English and he thought they were aged at least 20.

It wasn't due to his fame. They had significant doubt. I would have too, based on the case presented (well, what I gathered from what was shown of it anyway). America doesn't work on the "Well, he probably did it, even though there's no proof, so let's just convict him anyway" system you advocate.

You have to believe everything that has ever gone wrong in the history of your country was due to Liberals.
Many of the jurors were convinced he was a serial offender for gods sake & they still let him walk, what does that say about fame being a get out of jail card?

Nothing. He wasn't on trial for the older offenses. Just the most recent ones. And they weren't thoroughly convinced enough.
I'm not saying that fame doesn't help in a number of cases (I can name someone who recently got some hard time though - Robert Downey Jr. did, and he got beat up in prison too. Didn't complain either), I just think it would have turned out that way no matter who he'd been (well, any one with good lawyers anyways).

update, looks like justice will be delayed a little bit while they investigate more cases
Authorities in Vietnam have formally extended Gary Glitter's detention by four months, while claims that he had sex with under-age girls are examined.
Glitter - real name Paul Francis Gadd - is being held under suspicion of committing lewd acts with children.
The ex-singer has denied accusations of having sex with two under-age girls, one aged 12, say police in Vietnam.
The girls are said to have had sex with Glitter, 61, at his home in the resort of Vung Tau. He has not been charged.
Vietnamese police say they need longer to complete their investigations, although they say they have enough evidence to hold Glitter for another four months.
the sun shame really but hopefully the delay will mean some convict gets to him to save the courts the trouble
