My buddy built a pc for me...but theres a prob. The pc boots up and everything runs ok but at random times the pc reboots itself!. The power supply is 40w less then what the motherboard states it needs. Would that be the reason?.
Im pretty pc stupid so I assumed that when it says the motherboard needs 470w..its more a generalization then anything.
Any heres my specs
MSI K8N Neo4/SLI Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4
TR2 -430W PS
Amd athlon 3200+
1 gig of ram
Geforce 6800 pci express
*Looked again darc...it says 470w*
Pc help....

yeah, 470 watts for a 3200 with a single 6800 isnt very realistic, unless you have a freaking tesla coil hooked up or something
doesnt mean power isnt the problem though, if you got a cheap PSU, that might be giving you problems

uhm, did you try playing a game?
i dont see a DVD drive sapping so much power that the machine will reboot, certainly not when your vga and cpu arent on load
and the reboot cycle on the dvd drive suggests a problem with your DVD drive, although i didnt know ide drives are capable of rebooting a system...
can you do a cold boot with a dvd in the drive?
