Best Version of Capcom VS SNK 2???

Post by evanft »

I know this game was released for the DC in Japan, and later for the Cube, PS2, and Xbox here? Which version is the best?? And don't just automatically say DC :)

Tbh, theres not really much difference between the lot, as long as you get yourself a decent arcade-stick for whatever console your playing it on, you'll be happy :)

ONLY difference between the lot is the stupid EO thing (not on the DC vers), and the Xbox version has Live support.

Xbox for the Live support. Avoid the GC version due to it's controls.

You can switch the auto thing off, all you need is a good pad/stick for beat em ups and it's fine.

I have this game for DC. I got into it bigtime for PS2 when I was in Japan. I'd have to go with the PS2 version just because the controller seems more comfortable in my hands and you have the two extra trigger buttons.

The xbox version has a bug where the music stops everytime you finish of someone with a special move (And then the whole background goes all flashy). Can be fixed by going on xbox live and downloading a patch.

That's a bug? I thought it was intentional, since it only really happens when you nail a Dramatic KO and lasts only through that fight.

Anyways, LIVE support should be the clincher for the Xbox version.

XBOX version. Online play, music from CvS1 added too.

Only big difference from the arc version was that roll cancelling was taken out.

If you want to know which version is the more accurate arcade port it goes like this:

1.DC
2.Gamecube
3.Xbox
4.PS2

Yeah it's a bug, it doesn't seem to happen in any other versions.

Nope, more like

1.DC
2.Ps2
3.Gamecube
4.X-Box

The Gamecube and X-Box "EO" ports dont have roll cancelling, which was in the arcade, so they are not arcade perfect. Aside from not looking as pretty the Ps2 port plays identically to the DC/Arcade. At Evo 2004 everybody played the DC version, this year they are switching to Ps2 because there was so many problems last year with people using DC->Ps2 converters for sticks they just said screw it, and are going Ps2.

The PS2 version is dirt graphically, I'd easily say its the worst of the four in consideration.

I can only imagine the people at evo play games in composite.

-Johnick- is right. In terms of gameplay, DC/PS2 are the best, with GC/XBOX falling behind.

Also, I'm surprised they diddnt do that earlier wth the console switch at EVO, converter issues were the biggest problem at ECC9.

Kron, when it comes to EVO and other major tournaments, it just consists of taking consoles and hooking them up to whatever TV/displays they could find, or use SuperGun. Not spending cash ona VGA adapters or whatever to make sure the graphics look as good as possible, which dosent matter. How good the graphics look in your matches dosent matter in a tournament, if thats what you're implying.

I have to gripe at this point about the standard PS2 controller's D-pad. You might as well use a turd; it'll have about the same response. (Of course, there are those nice NUBY controllers and fightter sticks, etc)

Why a competition would prefer the PS2's craptastic controllers is beyond me.

Basic controllers arent used at tournies. People bring their own joysticks, which they're expected to do.

Gets me how people go on about the GC controller being crap for beat em ups, like PS2 and Xbox are any better? they're all crap for these types of games. You really need a Six button pad to play these games.
