Sometime when I surf the web, some pages display a little icon in the address bar of my browser, before the URL.
Does anyone know how you get a page to have a little custom icon in this place?

It's called a favicon. It's been awhile, but I think I used this tool to make the one on screamcast

Do a google search for "favicon.ico" if you need more help.

last i remember, for cross-browser support, it needed to be a favicon.ico file in the root folder. for standard image formats, only firefox (possibly the whole mozilla suite. not sure) supports the feature and you need to add a line of code to your pages to get it to show.Raijin Z wrote:It doesn't have to be an ico file. Most servers will recognize GIF, PNG, and JPG as valid favorites icons. With GIF and PNG, you can have transparency, but I wouldn't try it with a 24bit PNG.
