PORT ORCHARD, Wash. -- A man who is believed to have gotten a 10-year-old girl pregnant has been charged with first-degree child rape.
Jeremy Daniel Cockerham, 28, of east Bremerton, pleaded innocent Tuesday in Kitsap County Superior Court and remained in jail with bail set at $250,000. His trial was set for mid-August. Cockerham is the girl's stepfather, officials told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

I just don't get any of this. I don't support abortion, but let's say I do for the sake of this post. I can see why you would get an abortion if the baby will kill you; a 10 year old can bring a child to full term if the 10 year old is healthy. But is it different if you get raped vs. not getting raped but not wanting a child? That's like saying there's a difference between getting HIV from getting raped vs. from your spouse whatever.

Im saying its stupid to say a 10 year old can have an abortion if raped and a 30 year old cant.

My argument on abortion is people should take responsabilty for the children they create. So in this case it could hurt a child and she didn't have a choice in the matter so she shouldn't be held to that responsability, if the 30 year old woman got raped she didn't make the choice and shouldn't be held to the same responsability as a woman that consents. I never said I only supported the abortion because it was a double whammy, I am sickened of the use of abortion as birth control, but I also feel it is warrented in very few cases, rape being one, and a good chance it will kill the mother being another. In this case it has two and with the mother being a child herself I would hate her being hurt that much more. For a society that looks at taking life so badly we sure are relaxed about giving it.
