i dunno i see nintendo taking many risks, and not just sequels

looks at the ds, then revolution with nintendo getting rid of teh d pad and ab button as they said

nintendo has first party onlien games on ds, and i dont think they would actually include wifi in the system for nothing
mario kart and animal crossing are online on ds and animal crossing has been rumored as a mmorpg since last year , just maybe that might just be true :) i so wish,.

dont forget advance wars that would be great online, smash bros

and nintendo is creating new franchises on ds like nintendogs, it seems odd but looks cool .

For those who missed the further announcements from the GDC regarding the revolution:

1) The DS to be online in any wifi hotspot in a couple of months

2) The revolution to also use wireless online out of the box

3) Revolution will be backwardsly compatible with the GC.

Oh, and a new Zelda trailer - finally get to fight gorons!

All of the above were pretty surprising to me, and it makes the issue of letting Mario128 / Zelda etc being GC titles moot, as if they are released at the end of the GCs lifespan / beginning of the revolutions Nintendo could theoretically appeal to both the early adopters and the 'wait-and-seers' with titles that play on both.

It also must mean that the revolution will not have a radically innovative / unique control system if it is built to playback GC games

EDIT:

oh, and check out this USB device... I wonder what it could be for..?

It's not a remake. It's just everyone moaned about wind waker so they done it more of a orcarina of time style

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but retro studios wil be releasing Metroid Pinball for the DS... Hope metroid doesn't become the new mario - spin-off titles are just pointless. And mario pinball (or was it called marioball or something) on the GBA was meant to be terrible - although that was developed by some small UK developer I beleive

any clue on how this is supposed to work, or are they just throwing a wireless card in there?

when you take it out you will have to connect the power cord yourself

i meant that the setting looked very similar(i saw the horizon of hyrule field) with similar bosses(thing that looked like the first one) if its not a remake it looks like a OoT2 which may or may not be good.

Your post made no sense at all to me. All I can say is that they better throw in a regular nic in the revolution. If not they isolated a huge amount of people.

The wireless card is mainly for interfacing with the DS. I believe online play is second priority.

After watching that zelda trailer i too have to say it looks a lot like a remake to OOT, i mean it has some off the same bosses, and not only that but some of the dungens look the same.

Did nintendo ever say that this was a whole new game and not a remake?, if they didn't then the is a pretty good chance imo that this could be a remake to OOT.

Yup, probably just a wireless card. That USB pic I linked - unless I am waaaaay off base - is almost certainly just a USB wifi transmitter / receiver, and if priced cheap enough would make a good alternative to having to buy a wireless router to get online with it.

I seriously doubt theyd bother putting a NIC in as well as a wifi card if they want to keep hardware costs down.

That trailer looks nothing like OoT :?

rescuing cats?
Being chased by mogoblins on boarback?
Fighting gorons?
A boomerang wielding undead warrior?
Using some item to see ghosts underground?

Theres an enemy that looks like the bigeyed spider dude from the first dungeon in OoT, but in OoT he doesnt chase you through corridors, and the general look of the tiny part of the dungeon shown just looks like geenric zelda dungeon from every other zelda

I dunno where people are getting 'remake of OoT' into their heads from, its clearly not. That would be kind of stupid considering you already got OoT on the GC.

Those skeletons that reconfigure themselves look great. This whole game does. Why doesn't link just fight the spider?

Yes but all them things could of been added to it.
Remakes can add new things ya know just look at resident evil remake.

And afaik it has not been said if this is a whole new zelda game or a remake, and it wouldn't be stupid to make a remake if they where adding new sections and monsters, updating the gfx etc.

so i think it's very possible it could be a remake, (but i do hope its an all new game).

Both Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid were 'worthy' of doing remakes, because they were games that had never been seen on a nintendo console before.

Not games that were given away free just over a year ago :?

As for the goron fight, I'm guessing he's the training guy; like how Wind Waker had the old man without a shirt on.
