You guys should look in the hardware forum every now and then. You will find heaps of cool scrap in there. This was posted a long time ago in there, with complete directions too. The link posted even had the price of the components and hardware numbers. Also with a guide to wire the original nes controller ports to the usb joystick input. Someone else stuck a dvd player into an NES case. Cool stuff in hardware.

Yes, I could prbly manage to pull one off, but I'd need the tools. I don't have the tools, nor do I know anyone with them. I also couldn't afford the parts and I love my consoles too much to kill them without an extra.

Wow this is new

On a serious note, the mini itx mobos are very underpowered but people are starting to buy these mini itx P4 capable mobos which, although expensive look pretty good

i own a via epia m10000n mini itx mobo, and yes they are very underpowered, even though mine runs at 1 ghz, it cant keep up with a p3 500 mhz, its just a bad cpu

i have been thinking of places to put it in (i scraped my old project, it was a 8 inch cube, but as it turns out, those dimensions make it a bitch to carry around)

i do have a gutted snes here, but thats rather small, considering the fact i have a standard shuttle psu, i dont think i could make it fit, even a nes would be a bit tricky to fit the psu and mobo in, the hdd wouldnt be a problem though

also, even if the epia boards are underpowered, mine managed to run n64 emulation pretty well with an added 3d pci card (not sure how good the onboard vga is, never used it) under windows XP

and those p4 mini itx boards require a normal p4 cooler, which pretty much rules out building it into a nes, the epia boards however have a small northbridge like cooler on the cpu, the entire thing is only 1,5 inch high, about as high as a ram dimm in the board

yeah, the dc itx is crap, so is the animalsnes

basicly, most console conversions on those sites are poor, the nes ones usualy are the best, because in a nes there is the most room

wheres the challenge? there is WAY too much room in the xbox case to fit an ITX board. common, why not try to fit one in an RC car and have a program to drive the RC car around?

The animalitx one actual was good. The dc itx one would of been better if they DIDNT HAVE A PSU BIGGER THAN THE SYSTEM sitting outside.
