Ex-CIA bigwig: let's not catch Bin Laden

Post by Roofus » Tue Jan 11, 2005 2:16 pm

"If the world's most wanted terrorist is captured or killed, a power struggle among his Al-Qaeda subordinates may trigger a wave of terror attacks, said AB 'Buzzy' Krongard, who stepped down six weeks ago as the CIA's third most senior executive... 'if something happens to Bin Laden, you might find a lot of people vying for his position and demonstrating how macho they are by unleashing a stream of terror.' ... Several US officials have privately admitted that it may be better to keep Bin Laden pinned down on the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan rather than make him a martyr or put him on trial. But Krongard is the most senior figure to acknowledge publicly that his capture might prove counter-productive."

Yeah, and that's exactly what's happening in Palestine right now. Those barbarous are uncapable of doing anything civilized, like having an order of succession and/or electing a new leader for them...

Seriously, what ever happened to stopping terrorists? I thought Bush said he was going to get rid of them, not just take out their leader and come home....

If they found Bin Laden, then the American public would lose interest in the War on Terror. They'd pretty much say "Yay, no more terrorists now!"

He'd have lost the election. I don't know what he'd have done other than that.

Bill Clinton had no reason to capture Bin Laden, he had not commited a crime against our country until 9-11-2001.

Wasn't there a WTC bomb in the early 90s?
