fairly odd parents are great.

and x-men was politically correct when they created the second team with storm and colossus(not to mention, starfire and the indian who died in his second issue) x-men has always had a subtext involving racism and by its nature has to be politically correct. doesn't mean it can't be enjoyable. and x-men evolution sucks.

Yeah - the Global Justice James Bond cliche parodies in Kim Possible are better than all three Austin Powers movies combined.

Not that that is saying much. ;)

ALL THAT SPEAKETH UNTRUTH ABOUT THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES SHALL BE CORRECTED!!!!! :P
that_guy wrote:The good TMNT doesn't show anymore, it got replaced by some stupid cartoon that wasn't worth watching, kinda like the good X-Men got replaced by X-Men Evolution.
you may not like the TMNT show, which is fine, to each his own. However, your analogy is severely flawed (actually it's correct, but it disproves your point).

Correct, the 90's X-Men toon was good because it loosely followed the comics. X-Men Evolution sucks because it's licensed kid-show garbage. Now fill in those references with "new TMNT show" and "80's TMNT show" and you'll have it about right.

Invisix wrote:The TMNT was remade to make it more politically correct, Baxter is now some black dude.
*sigh*

Baxter has always been "some black dude", long before those cartoons crapped all over the TMNT license. For the record, you've got it backward. The more politically correct 1987 cartoon changed Baxter into a white man to avoid racial sterotypes associated with villains.

The new TMNT is more mature, manages coherent story arcs over an extended period of time, and is actually well drawn.
I think people put too much stock in nostalgia. I tried watching Thundercats again. The first couple of episodes are good, the rest are retarded.

Are you talking about the original Justice League or Justice League Unlimited. Both are pretty good.
I dunno, its in the Warner Bros Batman cartoon 'style' and has batman, superman, green lantern (interestingly they went with Jon Stewart over Kyle Rayner / Guy Gardner / Hal Jordan), Flash, Hawkgirl (another interesting choice they didnt go with hawkman) wonderwoman and martian manhunter

you know, i caught kim possible the other day for the 1st time and I was surprised at how well written it is for a kid's show. I might just watch it again.

random thoughts:

Gargoyles definately holds a special place it my heart for the quality storyline.
Who's dumb idea was it to cancel batman beyond?
Funny how beavis and butthead holds up so well even today.
Simpsons have gone on for too long now. Its so obvious they're out of ideas.
I can't get enough of those old Looney toons shorts. Very clever.
Batman the animated series was definately one of the best cartoons ever made.
Spiderman (mid 90s). What more can I say?

all cartoons suck these days, either there kids shows that basis is nothing but retard humor or recylced japanese cartoons for the early 80-90's(yu yu hackinsho, db gt,ect)

I miss the cartoons they use to have on mtv, the one about the old people, the one with the thing came out of a guys head, and the one with a purple and yellow hero who use to beatup black blob people a lot.

btw has anyone notice everytime they put a new toon on mtv they try to make it more relative to kids (college, highschool ect) and they all get canceled in a few episodes :kiss)

All cartoons who tries to copy the drawing style from japanese animes suck, with the notable exception of the 90's Batman (forgot the name, was it The Dark Knight?). The people who does these cartoon are idiots, because the reason for why the animes are successfull isn't (only) the drawing style, but the very well conduced plots. However, the plots for these anime-wanabee cartoons are usually like this:

-Something big happens in the life of the protagonists
-Fighting against enemies
-Fighting against enemies
-Fighting against enemies
-Stupid dialogues
-Fighting against enemies
-Retarded joke

Fairly Odd Parents is the most entertaining modern cartoon by far, in my opinion.

I pretty much agree with everything you mentioned there. I'm not a big fan of the Looney Tunes (you spelled toon wrong in that case), but the rest of the things on your list are spot-on, IMHO.

Actually, and many of you may think I'm a dork for saying so, but I kind of enjoy watching Yugi-Oh. I realize it's kind of a mishmash of old recycled ideas (Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, anime, etc.) but I like the show, and it's really one of the few shows on TV (besides the ones on PBS) that I wouldn't mind my kids watching on a regular basis. The story lines are always kind of interesting, and there are always cool morals to each of the stories (usually having to do with trusting in yourself, trusting in your friends, being a good sport, or helping out your fellow man).

That's why you see hacked up versions of Tom & Jerry, oh
I remember reading they made the housekeeper, who was a stereotypical black woman, into a WHITE ONE in some version with a new voice. I've never seen it, but it sounds hilarious.
but I kind of enjoy watching Yugi-Oh.
I don't think you're a dork... But, I think Yugi-Oh is one of the worst anime to ever make it to the USA. I actually didn't mind Pokemon too much, it's cheeze-ball nature amused me at times (I used to watch some show that was on after it... Animaniacs or Batman? I forget, but I caught the tail end of a lot of Pokemon episodes because of that).

You have to believe everything that has ever gone wrong in the history of your country was due to Liberals.
