I'm kind of in the same boat. Q4 of the year is usually the worst time for PC games, save the few gems we got this quater like Doom 3, HL2, and Blizzard's boon to PC gamers, World Of Warcraft. Aside from those three, nothing has really caught my intrest over the last few months.
RTCW is excellent, and it's still quite popular online. Some other great titles are:
Morrowind
Rainbow Six 3
Half Life 2(Duh.)
Unreal Tournament 2004
Neverwinter Nights
World of Warcraft(Well worth the $15/mo)
Warcraft III
Sid Miers Pirates!
Civilization III
Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic
Call of Duty
Diablo 2 /w Expansion

Dawn of War is worth picking up, as is Evil Genius.
Personally I prefer the 'flawed masterpieces' that are fairly unknown and do something quirky / original on PC, than the superhyped FPS blockbusters.
Although having said that HL2 is superb until you finish it. As for RTCW online multiplayer, you might as well just download the free Enemy Terrirtory instead.

Also of note is Deus Ex (original) if you haven't played it yet, and Freelancer. There's even a semi MMORPG/tradewars-lite multiplayer, maintained by fan servers.

Yeah, the dialogue was fairly hillarious after awhile.ian wrote:i loved that game untill i got stucksomeoneElse wrote: Freelancer.
i loved the same lines again and again
"i'm trent" and "uh huh" were the best
I think there was a good montage video clip in a review by x-play/extended play/gamespotTV/whatever of all the repetitious dialogue talking to merchants and other NPCs.
