To be quite honest, I never really got into PlayStation during the first generation; I was still very much enthralled with SNES and Genesis games at the time, and 3D didn't intrigue me very much until it was more refined in the "current" generation (which, yes, I do count as starting with DC).

Most of the games I like for PSX are only because they're console ports of PC games that are getting to the point where they won't work on modern computers any more (such as Duke Nukem and Descent). There are only four original PSX titles I can think of, and one of them is available in superior form on Dreamcast:

-Hydro Thunder (on DC)
-JetMoto 2
-Medievil
-Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (one of my five all-time favorite games, and the ONLY one on that list for PlayStation)

Everything else failed to catch my attention; it was either available in equal/superior form on other consoles (fighting games for PSX were largely really bad ports, for example), or just not of interest (as I said, I had a very limited interest in 3D until the technology was more refined...I especially hated the "texture wobble" you got with a lot of PSX games).

...Come to think of it, I've never actually owned a PlayStation. I have a dozen or so PSX games, but I've only played them on PS2 or through CVGS (yes, I was actually one of the people who--back in the day--bought this INSTEAD of a system).

Thats it. Every other decent PSX game has, in my opinion, had better ports/versions on other consoles (e.g resident evil, tony hawks)

The playstation just never really interested me, I have been trying out more games, but so far I have to say a lot of them are, in my opinion, sub-par including the ff series.

I never thought I would live to see the day when somebody would list Sled Storm, Medievil and Vigilante 8 as 'the best' anything ^_^

Wow, fewer than I thought I'd list, fewer still I would actually choose to play on the PSX if given a choice between it and any other console the games had appeared on.

So that's what, 20 decent games out of a catalogue of 5000+?

COLIN MCRAE RALLY 2.0 ( To me the best rally game on the system there are many other good one's)

I will not list every game i happen to be a ps1 collector so i bore you all.

I might add some of these are still some of the best ever rpg's on any system

ALUNDRA 1 ( one of the best rpg's i have played enjoyed it start to finsh )
AUNDRA2 ( again fantastic to me not as good as the first one thou)

FINAL FANTASY VII ( totaly blew me away at the time got me back in to rpg's)
FRONT MISSON 3 ( fantastic really dont know why no one lists it better then snes version)
LEGEND OF MANA ( Finshed it enjoy parts of it prolly better then most on a lot of systems i enjoyed it which counts to me)
LEGEND OF DRAGOON ( very much underrated 4 disk game by sony)
START OCEAN 2 ( this is a great game own a ps1 just for it much better then the snes version yet retains it's charm)
SAGA FRONTIER ( hard to get into once you do it's great more adult in a way)
SUIKODEN 1 ( I really enjoyed this i thin much under rated as well)
SUIKODEN 2
TALES OF DESTINY ( just ok but as a rpg fan at the time i enjoyed it)
GRANDIA ( Really nice i like it better then ps2 version 2. it's better some people think it's better on saturn not really the case i own both. )
CHRONO CROSS ( this is really cool if you can find it)
XENOGEARS ( only got this game this year it's very good)
VANDAL HEARTS 1 ( like shining force and i love that)
VANDAL HEARTS 2 ( improment on the first much better)
VAGRANT STORY ( some what strange game but fun if you stick it out)
WILD ARMS 1 ( now this is a good game not that long thats about all i can fault)
WILD ARMS 2 ( being a fan of the first this was great to see come out i waited quiet a long time on pre order and finshed it in a week)

So many other rpg's but im making a mess near my computer with all the games.

I really dont understand why people say it has only 20 good games i lost count how many i liked and finshed. I dont finsh games any more on the ps2 i dont think it really is as good as the ps1 as far as wide list of good to great games.

I guess im not baised. My fav system is the c64 btw i liked the ps1 because it was a very nice system in 1995 and it got me back into gaming.
