The Panasonic SL-SX420 plays MP3s and audio CDs. It also supports CD-Rs and CD-RWs, all for $50. I have one and I like it.

true, but all mp3 players appear to have rubbish battery life whereas minidiscs can last upto something like 60 hours.hearld500 wrote:Don't get mini-disc, they're expensive and so are the discs.
Just get a cheap mp3 player so you can burn MP3 cds that are VERY cheap, you can still play your old cds, and you can share cds with frieneds.
The reason for having: A firewall
Independance day, the aliens were destroyed because a computer was used to access their network and disable key systems. If they had had a firewall, the earth would be just another worthless rock floating in space.

Dont bother with mini-disc.
Cheap portable cd players today will last at least 10 hours with anti-shock on. While this is nothing compared to mini discs, a pair of AA rechargable batteries will set you back next to nothing, and most cd players have a built in recharger. Just remeber to plug it into the mains every couple of days and youll be fine.
Plus, look at the price of mini-discs. A cd-rw disc is much better value.
