Glitchy graphics edition:

I'm getting the logic board recapped, which should resolve the issue.

I have two working logic boards, one with a bunch of RAM, at least 8 MB. All the slots are full. I can't boot it because I don't have a floppy or 50 pin SCSI drive that works reliably. How much are you paying for the recap?

[edit: correction]

$20 labor plus $10 parts plus shipping. It's an SE/30, though... which if you're into compact Macs, you know is a much more desirable and expandable system than any of the others. I wouldn't want to replace the logic board with anything other than an SE/30 logic board.

If you are looking to sell one or both, and they are SE/30 boards, how much would you want for them? (Also: does the sound still work? That's usually the first thing to go on these old Macs when the caps leak)

They are both SE/30 boards. They both chimed last time I checked them which was about a month ago. They've been in the closet since then. I have an ethernet card too, somewhere. Make an offer.

An ethernet card? As in, a PDS ethernet card compatible with the SE/30s? I'll take the whole lot, if you can offer a fair price; sticking in a new board sounds a lot cheaper and easier than having to get the existing board recapped. Do you have any other old Mac stuff that might be useful in getting my SE/30s outfitted?

Yes, PDS ethernet card that works in an SE/30, it came with one of the machines I acquired. It's an Asante MacCon II. I'll have to look for it but I am sure I can find it. Make me an offer for all of it. I'd just find yourself a big hard drive or an external CD-ROM because it'll make it easier to move over software and drivers.

I also have a Daystar Turbo 68040 33mhz accelerator in box, never used but not sealed but no adapter to make it work in an SE/30. You'll never find an adapter but if you do someone will want $300 for it so it's not worth buying.

A bigger hard drive and a SCSI CD-ROM are both things I'd be interested in. Not sure about the accelerator board... what model was it made for and kind of adapter does it need? I don't suppose you happen to have an XCeed graphics card in your magical closet of parts as well, do you?

The Daystar adapter works in a bunch of classic Macs, but most need some form of adapter. The SE/30 adapter is very rare. I do not have an XCeed card. I do not have a lot of classic parts. I have tons of G4 stuff though!

Now xylene uses a Mac and I use Windows 7. That's weird. Anyway, I like the Minnesota Twins.
