I'd say the first generation modles. The ones with the A/V jacks in the back. I hear they can play imprts and copies without a modchip? I could be wrong too.

But the A/V jacks in the back is just simply a good idea.

well, i prefer the models with the av jacks in the back as well. Also, it MUST have the port in the back where the older plug gamesharks plug-in. hehe. Thats just my personal preference. currently i have a 1001 model and i love it. Im going to be getting a 7501 model so i can install my mod-chip in "stealth" mode

I've got an SCPH-102 model PSone and it plays any PSX disc you care to throw at it thanks to a small piece of paper and "CDX9000" demo disc.

Anything plays well with a PS-X-Change v2, but older PSXs have problems with CD-Rs. The original JAP model played copies and imports straight outta the box, but few exist. If you want to pick one up cheap, go for a 5000/7501 model with a Parraler Port and get a Game Hunter.

nope they can't - got that model. damn this is going back to like 1994-95 (sorry lost count). man time flies. i was in junior high when i got it.

the older ones (pre 9000) can have one of those external mod chips plugged in, but those chips suck as all they do is stop the boot disk to make it easy as heck to swap (so get a solder, be a man, and put in a real mod chip).

My friend has a ps1 model that has one of those but it wouldn't play his imports or ...homebrew/emulation. There is a couple of the models even with that port that won't work with the Game Enhancers. The main difference I seen between his model and mine was the way the RCA jacks went into it. Mine has the same connector that a PS2 has, his had the yellow, white, and red hole just like a TV has. I don't remember the model number but Id say away from that one.

Mine is a 5501 and it works great useing the game enhancer.

Mine had the jacks then I got one of the newer style jacks both worked lovly.
