DCEmu Decides the 2020 US Presidential Election
Well, folks... the last four years have been really something else whether or not you've lived in the United States...
Let us revisit a now-classic post by DaMadFiddler for a new election cycle and try to determine who will be crowned the new king or queen of America.
Poll stays open 'til election day...

Re: DCEmu Decides the 2020 US Presidential Election
Is this who I'd want to win or who I think would win?
Don't really know who I'd vote for yet. I'm not really excited by anyone.
But right now things don't look all too great for the Democrats, so if I had to put money down, I'd say Trump is getting reelected.

I suppose in the spirit of the original post from 4 years ago - "Do you know who you're voting for? What swayed you?"

Re: DCEmu Decides the 2020 US Presidential Election
My post from 2015 aged well.
I think Trump's gonna win solely on the basis that he successfully unified the Republican party and it's voter base to the point that NeverTrumpers stick out like sore thumbs.
The Democrat side is too polarized in itself and none of the candidates seem strong enough to unify it in its current state. Not all too different from the Republicans in 2012 - only one thing is clear. Just replace "stop Obama" with "stop Trump". Yang is interesting and it'd probably do the DNC's future a nice favor to give him some more exposure. I'm gonna vote for Trump again.

Well, the only person on this list that I don't immediately have a negative opinion of is Andrew Yang, and that's not exactly an endorsement for president, he's just an interesting guy
I'll wait and see what third party candidates end up on the ballot I guess, but I'm not too enthused with the Libertarian Party either

Re: DCEmu Decides the 2020 US Presidential Election
I think 3rd parties would be very capable of upsetting the vote if they proved themselves more capable and reponsible than the Ds/Rs and meticulously outplanned them on every step they could possibly to take to ensure constructive policy change. Having a strong local presence in places that aren't interesting enough for the main parties would be a good approach. They don't have money or clout but the right leader could probably use that to their advantage.|darc| wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 10:27 am Well, the only person on this list that I don't immediately have a negative opinion of is Andrew Yang, and that's not exactly an endorsement for president, he's just an interesting guy

If a 3rd party does indeed climb to a rank of high status, the main parties will probably unite all their powers and influences together and possibly even run on a joint ticket to stop them. They did it to stop the Reading Socialists in the 40s. Maybe they'll do it again.

Re: DCEmu Decides the 2020 US Presidential Election
The Democrats have really disappointed me in the way they've treated President Trump. I don't ever remember the Republicans acting that way with Obama. I'm tempted to vote for Trump just out of spite.
That being said, there is one Democrat that impresses me and that's Tulsi Gabbard. I'd vote for her.

Re: DCEmu Decides the 2020 US Presidential Election
I only immigrated in 2012. So i wasn't naturalized unfortunately in 2016. Got my passport a few months after the election. Really sucked. But I went from a Hilary supported to Jill Stein.
In 2020, I was firmly in Bernie's camp. With Warren a good runner up, till she went all Bernie is sexist. That was bizarre. I liked Andrew Yang as a solid 3rd and sometimes 1st. But he dropped out before Super Tuesday so I would never know where he stood. But I lost respect for him when he prematurely endorsed Biden and his tweet literally read like an apology to Bernie. Later we find out, he just wanted to win points with the DNC to support his upcoming run for NY Mayor. He wouldn't have to worry about not getting my vote as I'm not in New York.
I am disappointed in the democrats as a whole that all of the finalists quickly fell in line like dogs and bitches and supported Biden. WTF, was up with that? Granted Warren didn't endorse either, but I already lost respect for her.
So let's see 2024, if I have not moved to another country. I would give the republican nominee a fair chance. I do not think the democratic establishment is trustworthy.
