Dads of DCEmu

Sup, I'm one of you now. We can use this thread to reminisce about what sleeping used to be like etc.

Congratulations!! Best decision I ever made.

My son is 3 1/2 years old now so a lot of my life has mostly returned to normal. He can dress himself, feed himself, go to the toilet by himself, and sleep through the night which is basically all the lovely trouble of the first three years over and done with. Plus he's started going to Preschool/Daycare/Kindergarten (whatever you want to call it) Mon-Fri all day which is great as I don't work Monday/Tuesday so actually have time enjoy my marriage again

Cheers, yeah its only been a week but it's definitely an awesome experience so far, I'm definitely looking forward to when all the crazy feeding constantly stuff calms down and I can focus on the important stuff like explaining to him how to burn a proper selfbooting diskjuggler image.

Both of you may think that. Both of you are terribly wrong.

Welcome to the parent club.

My son just turned 5 last month, and my wife is insistent that we have a second child. I would argue with her, but she seems to have forgotten that you typically need to have sex in order to get pregnant, so I should be safe.

Well that plan failed. She gets a blood test tomorrow to confirm, but right now it looks like I'm about to do this whole baby thing again.

All jokes aside, it's official now. I'm just glad I've kept 5 years of child clothes so I don't have to buy them again. And if it's a girl, well she'll just have to get used to wearing boy clothes.

Congrats guys, I'm now so deep into a world of relentless sleep deprivation that the thought of a second is sort of incomprehensible. Glad to see it gets better. Right? RIGHT?

It's an endless chain of negatives and positives. Once the sleepless nights are over, then you might have problems moving your baby onto solid food, then you're going to have the joys of potty training and carrying a buggy everywhere you go, then you've got the terrible twos to look forward to...

On the plus side though, you'll be over the moon when your baby first rolls over, first stands up, takes their first step, says their first word, learns to feed themselves, can express what they want, sits there and makes stories with their toys, works out how to use an iPad etc. etc.

You always remember the good more than the bad. Our decision to have a second was fairly easy to make.

Well, by now a lot must have happened, but BE WARNED!!!

The second child is NOTHING like the first. Had my second several months ago. My first child slept like a log in the car, this second one screams at the top of her lungs every single time we go anywhere. My first child slept like a log at night, this one never got to the sleeping through the night part. My first child didn't like to laugh, this one likes to laugh all the time when she isn't screaming for milk/food.

Just be prepared.

We just found out our second is going to be a girl. My wife is happy, but all I can think about is all the money we will have to spend.
