Neko Project II 0.82 Dreamcast edition released

Neko Project II 0.82 Dreamcast edition released

Histat has released a new emulator for the Dreamcast, Neko Project II. It is a pc-9801 series emulator. You can get it from the official website at http://neko.sourceforge.net/.

1) About

Neko Project II is a pc-9801 series emulator

2) Install

these files should contain in data directory

* BIOS.ROM
* FONT.ROM or FONT.BMP or FONT.TMP
* SOUND.ROM *1

*1 optional

unzip np2-<version>-dreamcast.zip
change dirctory np2-<version>-dreamcast
put your need file to data directory
and burn data directory at your own way

3) Contact
histat Contact
  histat <histat | AT |users.sourceforge.net>

Very nice! It's good to see a release by a Japanese developer again.


I did a quick google search and found this Japanese Dreamcast site: http://sokonuke.chu.jp/index2.html

I don't see any actual warez, but maybe I'm not looking hard enough. Looks more like a bunch of how-to documents and a b!DC beta compatibility list.

It's fast enough to make some games pretty playable. Thexder seems to work pretty good for example. There a quite a lot of options taken from the PC version. However it has some insane flickering on a lot of games. I'm not sure what the issue is. The games that work correctly seem to use the lowres (640x200) mode. Maybe it's a 15/31 Khz issue. Or perhaps it's PAL-related. It does supposedly display correctly on a VGA-Box.
