What ever happened to the Holly 3D engine?

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

First, I am sorry if this has been asked multiple times. I have been away from this forum for about 1 year.

What ever happened to this project? I remember when the news about this engine came out, I thought it was amazing. The screenshots on their site are outstanding and look commercial quality. Is this a dead project or is it still being worked on?

I am wondering this since the last time news was posted on their site was 02.04.06.

I guess Heinrich Tillack is busy with working on DCastle, his game for the GOAT Store. I've tried to email him at least two times during the past two years iirc, but I never got a response.

Maybe Kalin Krastev (aka Segata Sanshiro on these forums) could help us out there. He made the concept for the Holly demo and also the awesome character model on the site:

I hope this project is still running. It's one of the most promising projects around. Would be really nice to see it in action.

Well, I've lost contact with Heinrich a long time ago, so i cant speculate on the status of the Holly3D Engine, what i can say is that the engine was in a very advanced stage. A year ago Heinrich was already writing the MilkShape3D model importer and a 3rd person camera. So the level i made was already running, i even have a walkthrough demo (for the PC, not DC) with lightmaps and stencil shadows. I know that Heinrich was having lots of work in real life and had the time to work on the engine only on weekends, but that info is old.

I'll try to contact him again, because this was a really promising project putting to shame some of the commercial Dreamcast releases.
