bug reports for BootDreams

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

bug reports for BootDreams

Post by emptythought »

Apparently people are having problems with BootDreams. If you're one of these people let me know what the problem is so I can try to fix it. TechnoWolf and Dreamcast4flife: I read you two are getting fatal errors - please post some screenshots of then error and a description of when it's happening - it'll be a lot easier to pick through the code this way.

Can you tell me how to NOT reboot when getting the blue screen of death?Everytime I get that screen my PC reboots automatically when using boot dreams after BSoD. I can do a print screen on it if you can tell me how. Thanks.

When does it crash? It's possible it could be that you just need a ASPI layer. What version of Windows are you on?

IIRC the auto dummy option sometimes generated oversized images (more than 703MB). Don't remember which version though.

Oversized dummy files or CD images?
Though I haven't gotten that many responses, I figured I would get more responses here. :)

A minor bug with creating dummy files when a dummy file already exists:

I'll be working on it this weekend. The code is messy and hard for me to remember why I did somethings so I'll gonna comment it and prettify it. :D

When I burn a nero image what are the differences with Disk At Once (DAO) and Track At Once (TAO)? TAO burns don't want to run. Also, any chance of a vanilla flavored ISO image added to the options? My reasoning is that some of the newer nero images don't work with older nero software. Or is it vise versa? Anyway I think it would just be cool to have an option that was standard accross the board. Awsome piece of software BTW.

I can look into creating a cue\iso format. DSSBS could create those type of images but they didn't work. Like I said, I'll look into it.

The difference between TAO and DAO images are exactly that; they only work with specific versions of Nero. DAO works on the older versions and TAO works on the newer version.
Awsome piece of software BTW.
Thanks. :D

Hm, support to burn SBI files just like SBInducer's SBI2Boot would be a nice feature to see in BootDreams... :)

I agree, but I'm not sure about it yet. There's a lot of work to do in making the code easy to comprehend.

Fackue.

It crashes during the burning process. I never really had this problem until recently. I tried my CD burner and when it gave me the BSoD I tried it again with my DVD burner (it burns CD-Rs too ^_^) so during the burning process at any given time. my computer makes the reboot sound (fans powering up and such) and gives me a BSoD for a sec and reboots the PC.

Like I said I never really had this problem until recently. I may try making another emulated disc with something other then GPDC 1202007 and see if I get the same Bullshit.

Install a ASPI layer (forceASPI). I'm not sure why it crashes since I've included the Nero ASPI but that should fix your problem.

Work is being done albeit slowly because I keep getting ideas for the BDS format (if you checked the front page lately, I released a new version of the BDS manager [with a bug] - expect to see a new version of that before I finish BootDreams).

It looks like a no, but does anyone know if CDRecord supports prioritizing files?

What do you mean by "prioritizing"?

Exactly that.

Prioritizing files when burning stuff suggests that you want the file burned first or last.

I thought maybe mkisofs would do this, and it would make more sense, but it doesn't appear to have anything in regards to file prioritizing using the -help command.
