The official DreamCon @ Midwest Gaming Classic page is now up:
DreamCon comes to the MGC
The Sega Dreamcast was launched in the United States on 9/9/99, and the gaming community has not been the same since. While the Dreamcast ultimately failed to catch on, the system gained a lot of fans during its relatively brief lifespan and had some amazing games, such as Soul Calibur, Shenmue, Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi and the 2K sports line up. The system also had amazing new titles like Samba de Amigo, Space Channel 5 and Mars Matrix. In addition, the Dreamcast developed an amazing underground following. Dreamcast games are still being produced by Sega in Japan, and by independent developers throughout the world.
DreamCon at the Midwest Gaming Classic will feature all of the above and more! The show will feature some of the most popular releases from the Dreamcast's lifespan, while also showing new developments, including many items which have never been seen in public!
In the coming weeks, there will be many more announcements about DeramCon at the Midwest Gaming Classic. To find out exactly what is happening at DreamCon, head to the new DreamCon section of the web site located at http://www.midwestgamingclassic.com/con ... d=dreamcon. Special DreamCon-specific announcements will be made on a regular basis on the DreamCon page, so make sure to check back often to get all of the latest news about this exciting addition to the Midwest Gaming Classic!

DreamCon welcomes ScreamCast
Screamcast was founded in 2003 as a group of people to aid new Dreamcast developments by providing art. By 2004 the group decided to start developing their own games. Today, Screamcast is the largest independent development group for the Sega Dreamcast.
At DreamCon, Screamcast will be debuting new projects which they have been keeping under wraps for the first time. To find out what these new goodies are, you are going to want to visit the DreamCon section of the Midwest Gaming Classic when it opens on June 3rd!

Sorry for the long wait between the convention and this post, but I've been enjoying some downtime as I had a town meeting I had to attend about 2 hours after I got home (and needless to say, after a 14 hour drive, I was exhausted).
The show was amazing. The show brought in 5000 people on Sunday. I'm not sure how many were on Saturday, as I didn't hear the numbers, but I'm sure that it was as much if not more as it seemed more crowded that day. The exhibition hall we were in didn't pull in those numbers, but it did get it's share of visitors - and since those visitors were there for the retro exhibitions we didn't get the "retro games suck" fanboy crowd that we got at the last two DreamCons. Also, even in a seperate area from the rest of the show, the room drew in many more people than the entire attendance of DreamCon 2005.
I briefly met scherzo after he partook in Dan's GOAT Store games announcement (as he's coding the amnesia adventure game). I hung out with DCSteve and Kungpow/shinji ikari throughout most of the first day, as BOR Revolution was only there for the first day. Speaking of announcements, we were in the room that led to the conference rooms, so that helped our attendence as well. The DreamCon exhibit was right in front of the conference room doors, so when people would leave after hearing a speaker, they would stop and poke around at DreamCon for a while, which was cool.
There was a lot of interest in the DCEvolution discs, which I put out on the second day at the table that BOR Revolution had used. People were amazed that the Marathon series was ported to the Dreamcast, and many were amazed that there was so much independent stuff for the Dreamcast in general. By the time I left, all but one of each disc (and all of the Marathon discs and the SMS DEP discs) had been given out, and I left those behind for people to pick up at their leisure.
The GOAT Store had a great layout for the DreamCon, and a ton of stuff to show. They had all of their games, plus Sega games on other consoles that started out on the Dreamcast. I spent a lot of time on Crazy Taxi 3 and Headhunter: Redemption. Cool Herders was very popular with the crowd, as was patbier and poche's Dynamite Dreams. The Jet Set Radio slot machine was a huge hit, but it unfortunately went down on the second day of the convention (as did an entire table with Sega's Xbox games set up - due to an unsecured table leg. No one was hurt and neither were the machines and monitors, thankfully).
As for the main convention, the main room was amazing. There were 35 pinball tables (not including the tables set up only for tournaments) and 40 arcade games. The GOAT Store had an amazing setup - it was much, much larger than it was at the Midwest Gaming Classic 2004. It was two booths down from AtariAge, which also had an amazing setup - they had games playing as well as cartridges to sell. If I had enough cash I would have loved to pick up some of those games. I'm a sucker for the Atari 2600 VCS.
Ah, and before I forget - Dan's GOAT Store games announcement was great. There weren't as many people attending that speech as I thought there would be - but there was a ton of great information shared, and a lot of screenshots and video clips, which I will share with you all later once I get them uploaded to the photo album and to a server, respectively.
Overall, other than the few bumps on the second day as I mentioned above, this was a great convention. It rivaled the DreamCon at ECGX in terms of the amount of people from the Dreamcast community participating, and it attracted a much more interested following in new Dreamcast productions than DreamCon at Magfest.
Here's the gallery of pictures I took at the convention:

The domain dcevolution.netfirms.com seems dead for me. To access the photo gallery I had to change the address of the link to http://www.dcevolution.net/dreamcon/nfp ... hp?album=4

It's weird that it worked for you that way. dcevolution.net simply points to dcevolution.netfirms.com, so it must just have been a weird coincidence that it didn't work for you when trying to visit dcevolution.netfirms.com, but it did work for you when you went to dcevolution.net.Fragger wrote:The domain dcevolution.netfirms.com seems dead for me. Great pics (although, as usual at a convention, there obviously was not enough light). I'm very enthused to hear about all the attention we all got at the con.

I had a feeling this was coming. It's a long story. My van broke down - there was a lot of stuff in my van that I accidently left behind when I switched over to my mom's car. I was going to bring dance mats for Feet of Fury - left those behind. I was going to bring Dream Para Para and controller- left those behind. And, I also left behind my box of Dream On magazines.Dobo wrote:How come you didn't show off the Dream On mag at the event? I'm sure you posted that you had the mags ready before the event was held.
On that note, I'm glad I didn't sell any copies of Dream On at the convention. I've since decided that I'm going to be doing a completely new cover of Dream On magazine, since I want to be able to catch the culprit who took my original print run, just in case they are in fact stolen. If I ever see the old cover pop up on eBay, I'll know who took them.
I didn't see this before ! Good to read this Was it AliceDreams or DynamiteDreams ? Do you know what version was shown ?MetaFox wrote:Cool Herders was very popular with the crowd, as was patbier and poche's Dynamite Dreams.
