SNES4ALL ALPHA 2- SPEED UP

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

The fact is that this alpha release is faster runing certain games than DSNES. I played, for example, ACTRAISER until the end in both emulators (Yes, in SNES4ALL without saves  ) It's most enjoyable to run it on SNES4ALL with frameskip set to ~2. Only certain stages with transparencies in it have some slowdown in the framerate. So it's not true that it is worse than DSNES 0.9.8. Many others games runs better on it also. A fact.

I tought this thread is for talk about SNES4ALL, so speak about chui's last release.

I just want to say that from my experience I have to agree with Quzar's 'no' for an answer. The games I played so far are not running as smooth as Dsnes 0.9.8 could run em, which are DK Country, FF4 and Killer Instinct. So seeing how dr apocalipsis found Snes4all faster, I find this highly interesting and promising.

Btw, FF4 still has the same sound problems like Dsnes.

I cleaned up all flames again. This thread is not about "scene politics", it is about an emulator release. I'm not taking sides - ANYONE who posts anything inflammatory from this point on will be recommended by myself for a reprimand by staff. You've all been warned. Keep the discussion on topic, and be civil about it - that's all I ask.

Well you could test yourself :P

If I were more healthy at the moment I might consider booting both emu's to compare, but at this moment I'm feeling sick :|

Anyways, in case my question got lost in the flames, can anyone please explain what the throttle function does? I played around with it a bit, but couldn't answer the question myself.

Discard autoframeskip set. It sucks.
It's better to try one by one until you find the better configuration for each game.

Also I think throttle is not use. It's supposed to increase speed performance. But I can't say that :?

OMG! What a treat! I've been gone from these seemingly dead threads for a while now and what do I come back to find? Why, a decent new SNES emulator in the works! Thanks guys. If I'm welcome, I think I'll start hanging out in these threads again. What a welcome change of pace! Keep up the good work!
