Freedo on Dreamcast

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

The only existing 3DO emulator being ported to dc? These programmers must be very talented.

Actually --- it's nearly ready -- few minor fixes and i'm releasing bunch of versions --
PocketPC, DC, MacOsX, Win32, RedHat/SuSE/FedoraCore3 i386.

so, you should expect them by friday - monday (Nov 21st).
I dunno about you guys but I'm excited. There's a game or two I'd love to play. I wonder how well the DC version performs.

The thing is they had been saying they had an xbox and ps2 port made and they had already gotten them pressed. the whole project has been full of delayed release dates and such.

Me too. I'm looking forward to try Captain Quazar (best 3DO game IMO) and FIFA... Yes, FIFA 3DO beats any DC footie game, and it's prolly the best of the series (at least I remember having fun with it)

I can't wait for PO'ed, it sucked on the PSX, but played wonderfully on the 3DO.

And of course D&D Death Keep, and Alone in the Dark.

So true. I picked up PO'ed at Gamestop one day thinking it would be at least as good on PSone as it was on 3DO. Nope. So painful to play.

3DO was a cool machine. Just a bit ahead of its time. The Gex series started on 3DO.

Oh ya, can't forget Gex.

Road Rash was the best on the 3DO than any other system as well. Compare it to it's PSX brother and you'll laugh at how poorly the psx pulls it off in comparison.

DOOM was crap on 3DO, a dirty shame too.

In retrospect, I agree. But back then I hadn't played much Doom on PC, so to me it seemed incredible. What do you think was worse Doom for 3DO or for 32X? I thought the 32X one wasn't half bad.

32X was a wonderful port, I could not believe it when I played it. The only lame thing that I can recall about it was the fact that the sprites had to be cut down, thus all the enemies always looked at you.

Then of course there is the SNES port which I would not wish upon anybody. Aside of having GFX so horrid you did not know what was going on. I also believe you could not strafe and fire at the same time, or something to that effect.

The 3DO version could have been great, but the Frame Rate kept dropping or something. If you stand still and spin in a circle you'll know what I mean.

Another great title for the 3DO list...

it had the best port of Flashback, you'd have to see it to believe it!

I thought the SNES version was pretty good actually, better than the 32x version! Didn't Rand Linden do the SNES version?

Yeah, I remember that. I remember trying to get the monsters to fight each other, and they wouldn't. I guess the developers were like, well, if they're always facing you, then we sure as hell can't have the monsters fighting each other.

I just was searching around about Doom and came upon a site with custom wad files. Did you guys know that one of the guys from the Columbine massacre made some custom wads of his own? Check This Page. Look for "UAC Labs - Eric Harris". Good bit of video game trivia.
