They're actually called pocket CDs? I thought they would have a better name. You are talking about the ones the size of Gamecube discs right?

What is the average pricing for these? Like say a 50 pack or something. Are they more than normal CD-Rs? I just bought a 100 pack of CD=Rs for about $25. It would be really cool to make single game NES games, or small game packs, such as classic NES games or whatever, using these.

Really? I'm pretty sure the standard ones hold 180MB and the newer ones hold up to like 300...

21 mins or 185 mbs.

I have them (they are called pocket cds). I got at 25 pack for $30... :| so, over a buck each, kindof makes you a little more cautious when you do burn on them.

Otherwise they work perfectly fine.

Probably a dumb question...

Since burnt things are suppose to be harder on the DC laser, would a pocket CD help reduce the laser's strain? There's probably no difference, but if it did help, I might start buying smaller CD-R's for emus.

Strain

Post by emperordahc »

Pocket CDs are still CDRs, just smaller. Same "strain", if anything.

We got a few of the rectangle "business card" shaped ones here at the office for testing before shipping to the publisher. Never thought of burning emus on em. Keep a good chunk of your NES collection in your wallet. ;)

Hey I never heard of those. What type of CD drive would be able to read or burn such a disc?
Oh, no. NO! You can't do this to me. Don't give me a playstation. NOOOOOOOOOO! I don't want a piece of crap. Take it back and burn it to heeelll!!! Die Sony Computer Entertainment with you PS (Piece of Sh?t) and your PS 2 (Piece of Sh?t?2)

The credit card ones can be read/written by a standard CDRW drive and have been informed they work on DC

No, it would be worse as far as I know. If you remember dummy files, these force all the data at the end of the cd. This would mean that the cd would turn less, and the motor would work not as hard. With a pocket cd, it would move faster because the data is on the inside.

Under my therory, yes. That is why I only use it for emus, it loads the program once, and then that is it. Not a strain at all.

Not that you should at all, but don't try to burn warez on this things, it would kill the motor.
